Here she is! Does she seem BIG for a hamster? She is the biggest one I have.

She's quite large!
How old is she? -- she looks about the size of my brother's late ham Aithne.
Aithne was approx 2yo and had mothered a litter before being brought into his household.

Ten months old. Zeb and Makeeda's daughter.
I asked the size question as I am convinced most of my Syrians are too big for the Habitrail internal wheel. True??

Blanche is quite cute. You definately have a handfull there. The internal wheel you mentioned is excellent for dwarves and young syrians, but once a syrian is full grown, the wheel overly-arches their backs. Elderly syrians can't run in that wheel without pain.

Exacty what I thought.
Most people don't seem to realize that. I am going to move Makeeda out in due course and put Snowball the dwarf in that Habitrail. Comfort Wheel for Makeeda.

I use the Senior Wodent Wheels for Syrian hamsters. I love to watch them run, at all ages, in comfort. They can really run fast.

They don't sell WW's in stores, and I hate mail order. So Comfort Wheels will do. I just hope they hold up. So far so good, but I should lubricate the spindle.

It depends entirely upon the size of the hamster. Some hamsters (like Puck) are small (you can't tell his size in photos, but he is about 50g less than all the people's I know in another forum) and fit well in it without any arching. The hamsters I see in pet stores (especially females) would not do well with that wheel.
Puck has 5 different kinds of wheels - his favorite one is the orbitting satellite which attaches to the side of the Habitrail station, which is also bigger than the other Space station wheel.

I'll look into that this week, an external wheel for the Habitrail. I will want to check the diameters: do you have the diameter of the internal wheel compared to the external? Unless I actually see a hamster use the internal wheel (or hear it when I am outside of a darkenbed room) I am assuming it does not get used, and I hope that was not an issue with Boudicca.

European hamsters are the size of beagles, and with a bad attitude!

No. They are endangered in their native habitat (Belgium and Holland), and are not docile. One bite from them and you lose a finger! They can also bite through steel mesh gloves.
