In this morning program called GM TV (Good morning Britain) They showed one of the Tabloid newspapers where a picture of a model wearing a coat, the horrific fact about this coat was that the lining was made of....Hamsters. It was made in Scotland and the hamsters were imported from Austria. How sick is that? Worse still it was actually the lining of the coat and the worst thing was that the hamsters were left whole so you could see the shape of the hamsters. The company who made the coat is House of Bruar store This has really p*ssed me off this morning Kane

I am much more interested in what kind of protests you plan to submit or organize regarding this atrocity. I thought the U.K.was so advanced in pet care and animal rights that this sort of thing would never occur. I cannot imagine it occuring on a U.S. TV show, by the way.

You've got to wonder about the kind of mind that would come up with something like that.

That is the most disgustingly foul thing I have heard in a long time. I want to puke

That is so gross! How can people do this to animals! Thanks for posting the link as to where you can complain. There are some sick people in this world to do that to any creature!

Beside the fact that it's heartless, I don't think it even makes the a good lining anyway - it's very inefficient. Since that's the case, it's really just cruel and twisted.

Well, hopefully the fad will end soon - they usually do.
I highly doubt that anyone emailing them will do anything. You just have to be thankful that they are being slaughtered in the most humane way possible. I'm afraid it's just like mink - their fur isn't a by product but still people use it.

Apparently, from what I hear, the company is getting so many complaints that they are considering taking it off the market.

« Reply #6 on: Today at 11:11am » Heres the link to the news item on the BBC website news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/3523533.stmIf you would like to e-mail your degust heres the email addy retail@houseofbruar.com OK. I hope someone has posted this on other sites, such as another forum, Petshub.com, etc.BTW, chinchilla coats, sable coats, etc, disgust me as much. My mother once very much wanted a seal skin coat (black). Finally, my father got it for her, and she was most pleased. Later, she found out (I forget how) that even the black skins (as opposed to the even worse white baby seal coats) were brutally taken. She never wore that coat again! She is long dead now, and that coat sits in the closet still as I refuse to give it to someone who might wear it. The fur is lovely and soft, but it only represents to me slaughter.

The coat was taken off the market by the store, because of all the complaints.
