Here is an excellent animal rescue group that has just stopped rescuing as it has run out of money!

Here is the letter they e-mailed out:
>> It is with incredible sadness that after removing more than 750 animals from the NYCAC&C shelters from September 05 - December 06, and after coming to the aid of countless animals found in the gardens and alleys of Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Animal Foster Network is temporarily closing its doors and ceasing all rescue efforts for the immediate future.
We have simply run out of money. Several recent and very expensive emergency surgeries have bankrupted the Brooklyn Animal Foster Network. This year our medical expenses ran close to $45,000.
Current foster homes: As always, we will remain in contact with you. And we will continue to pay all medical bills, out of our pockets. If you need to reach us, e-mail by clicking here. mailto:info@brooklynanimalfosternetwork.org
Please foster from the NYCAC&C shelters. You can provide temporary foster care to a very young, sick or injured animal, who, with your help, can become adoptable. For more information click here. nycacc.org/foster.htm
Click here to view animals within our network still in need of homes. brooklynanimalfosternetwork.org/adopt.html
Click here to help turn this situation around by making a much needed donation which will allow us to reopen our doors.

Click here to enter our site to see what was and could be again with support from the metro area animal loving community.

I have written them suggesting BAFN could try soliciting tax-deductible contributions from corporations and individuals. If anyone wants to post this story on other boards in the hope someone can contribute, even a little, it might help.
