A few animals at Paws have died including a bull frog, Lil Pete (a rabbit), Albert-a snake, and my favorite deer there Twiggy. I will miss you all, especially Twiggy. He was the only deer to come up to me. Twiggy died this Tuesday. And Lil Pete and Albert were euthanized today.

So sad. I hope they lived long lives, and were happy ending up at Paws where they were loved. What was the frog's name? What was wrong with them?

Thanks. Yes, every animal at Paws lives long lives and I hear exceeds the normal range of what they're supposed to live to! We don't really name the frogs, the only one I named was Kermit and I don't think it was him. The bull frog I'm not sure what was wrong with him. Lil Pete was just way to old and hurting from old age. Albert, we believe, had cancer as he just had a tumor also that burst. Twiggy was a freak accident. Skip, our maintenance man there, was just darting them with the rabies vaccination when Twiggy accidentally broke his back leg. It was in a way that it couldn't be fixed, the vet said later. So a policemen came out and, Mike told me this was the most humane thing to do, shot him three times. I can't picture this as Twiggy was my favorite and until another favorite comes along, I don't think it'll ever be the same going in that deer cage to feed them.

>> So a policemen came out and, Mike told me this was the most humane thing to do, shot him three times. << I actually laughed when I read that. Since when is shooting an animal humane when a vet can be called instead? Hope that cop wasn't eager to tryout his piece.

It's a deer, as I asked about this too, the vet would have to dart him again just to sedate him and then go up and try to euthanize Twiggy. It would also stress him out too much, and it'd be hard for the vet to get close with him still thrashing around. That's why a policeman was called in.

Some more animals have passed onto animal heaven: Cocoa (he died earlier than the rest) and so did Hilliard- a pig, Cadbury-my favorite bunny, and now sadly Honey a goat. They all lived very long lives and in the end, for some, we had to euthanize them as they were in too much pain. So RIP the newest ones Cadbury and Honey.

Seeing some of your favorites slip away, if you were very fond of them, could surely be quite hard. While they weren't yours, they were "yours" and you will miss the routine you had with them.
Rest in peace, all.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully new ones are coming into Paws whose lives are being saved by you, and they will eventually become favorites.

Thanks Robin and Tom. Exactly Robin--they're not mine but I have taken care of them for a year now and I always look forward to seeing them. I've gotten a bit used to them not being there, but I'll always miss Twiggy and Cadbury the most as they were my favorites and I just enjoyed seeing them.
Tom--I already have so many favorites there. Cookie was my new favorite of the bunnies, but I still liked to see Cadbury--now in her cage (a temporary one) is Fawn-a bunny. We're also getting a new pig and I think some other animals. We already have a new Bearded Dragon, it's a girl.

Please put together a collection of those, as photos. Or start a thread of Paws photos. If you did that already, sorry, but I've been busy as you should know. And it is possible one kitten now has ringworm--a fungus causing lesions in the face.

That could take awhile to get every photograph of the animals. I could possible do this when I volunteer on Thursdays instead of when I work there. Also I would have to load them on the computer, than try to put them up on here. If I'm having trouble--you're my other option hope you know that!

It is not a great option as I only have dialup and you do not. "Every" photo is not necessary.

Many of you saw the release of the fawns, well we kept one fawn with us because she wouldn't have made it in the wild. Sadly, Magic had to be euthanized because her body could no longer fight off the e-coli. She will be missed, she would follow you around and lick your hand. She was a doll. Rest in peace Magic, you will be missed.

Rest in peace, Magic.
And I hope the fawn grows up and has many wonderful years at Paws.
