Very interesting articles. Do a Google Search and get this: RIGHT HEREMost you have to pay a subscription to see the entire article but you can get enough info from the summary to validate the length & testosterone connection. Titus is a Blue Mink Roan Long Hair (dgdg ee ll pp U* Whwh). Dark gray, black eyed cream, long haired, cinnamon, umbrous, and roan genes. Dark gray is a fairly recent gene in the US from a Swedish import. Most breeders don't want to deal with it as there is a frequent genetic flaw of twisted spines - originally known as kinked tail since that was the usual sign without x-rays. Also breeding dark grays to dark grays will slowly decrease the size of the hamsters so occasional outcrossing is necessary to maintain proper size. I think a lot of breeders got spoiled since the other 2 gray genes are dominant so it makes it a bit easier to work with all of the other recessive genes.
