My new Degu cage is almost done. I designed it and my hubby built the framing of it. I'm bonding my two boys (Bruce & George) to three new boys I have, so far the intro is going ok, still some issues between the two dominants of each group. I'm still working on it, and this is taken without the two big wheels on the bottom floor. The boys seem to enjoy their bonding sessions in it so far.

"Hubby"? I know you mentioned the engagement, but did you tell us the deed has finally been done?! Congrats! - - - - - - I am seeing double. Did you post that twice or is there something different between each?? I'm getting an eye ache trying to discern something different! ;D - - - - - - The habitat (it is far better than a cage) is Bronx Zoo Mouse House quality! Well, maybe there's was slightly deeper. But otherwise it is an incredible job. Wow. How heavy is the top part for lifting off for cleaning??

Sorry Tom, we're not married yet 'officially' not until Sept. '09, I'm in the process of wedding plans right now. I call him Hunny, Hubby, that guys of mine LOL... The second picture has one of the doors closed and one open.
It's a bit heavy since it's made of steal. I had Ryan help me put the topper on, though without anything in it I could lift it on my own (and have) but it's awkward and better done with two people.
All the wooden slats/shelves are removable for easy cleaning, I can sweep out the whole bottom, and wipe everything down. I designed it for easy cleaning as Degus are very messy.

Oh. Explained!
De facto hubby.
>> The second picture has one of the doors closed and one open. <<
Oh right! I see it now!
Aren't the degus going to spray a lot outside, I mean when above the glass? (Now that you mention "messy", which I know).

Wow! Amazing! I know what Hollie would say if she saw it: "I want to live there!" She has said that before about interesting habitats.

Yes, but only the doors and very top are mesh, the rest of it is flat metal or glass, so can be easily wiped down. Keeping the spray inside the cage and not on my walls/cages/furniture LOL

Speaking of habitats, today I finally got a Superpet 40"x18" purple bottom for their big GP cage; mine was chewed up and useless. All I need do now is wash the bars!

Hmmm--she doesn't say in her engagement discussion (back in March) when the wedding is.
