I'm working on getting two in each photo. Next task, try for three! Sam and Dave Cliffy and Tommy Tommy and Dill - profile and straight on. Cooperative subjects!

I brought this thread up as the question was raised as to who Sam is living with these days, after his brother Ted passed away some months ago. See the first photo in the above post for Dave. Sam is a great favorite, and highly gregarious; Dave is the opposite - diffident and nervous. Yin and Yang. They get along, mostly.

Ever think of getting a pair? I would say a pair in a ten or fifteen gallon tank is a but less work than one hamster, although they will gnaw lots of corrugated cardboard and wood chews. In the 20 gallon tank, it is always delightful to watch the Gang of Four after I put food in their bowl. Even when asleep they soon smell it and rush over there - and then wait their turns to reach it (the bowl is on a wooden cube in a corner with another cube next to it they stand on). Very organzied and social. usually when they find something they like they run off to the far side of the tank to eat it, except for Dill the biggest of the bunch; he isn't bossy but he eats where he pleases! BTW, I call them the Gang of Four after the term used by the Chinese to disparage the four Maoists - including Mrs Mao - who helped lead the cultural revolution and other bad stuff there. I just liked the term, "Gang of Four".
