Warm mashed potatos gets quite a warm reception from my crowd -- they scarf and scarf and come back later for more.
They get these occasionally when I have a few spoons of spuds to spare and haven't overseasoned them.

I find a little mashed spud with a drop of soya milk and chopped up sunflower seeds is great for gerbs when they get more elderly and [some of them] lose their teeth. Soaking their normal biscuity bits in their mix in warm soya milk is good too Although it's sad that they're old and I know I don't have much time left with them, it always adds to the bond that little bit more ^_^

R - do you add anything to your mashed potatos?

For me, yes. For the gerbs, no.
I like mine peppered up with butter or gravy.
For the gerbs, they get a little bit of salt.
The spuds are cooked with butter and milk, but I go easy on both because I know I'll be sharing with the critters.

Adara, I am going to try that for my hamster grandma, Rainy, who is looking rather old and poorly. But I left her some warm egg whites just now and she devoured them, and then went to sleep. I feel normal mix isn't adequate for her anymore.
