Tumors and rats. : (
Is it easy to deal with it when you catch it so very early?
Any blood loss concerns in such a small animal during an operation?
Very best wishes to Moortje, and all.

I don't know, The lump is in a very weird place so if it's a tumor I hope they can remove it. If it's a tumor I should keep notice that it can come back, because she's still so young She isn't even a year old! I'm hoping it's just a swollen gland and I'm worried about nothing

If it's a tumor I should keep notice that it can come back, because she's still so young She isn't even a year old! I'm hoping it's just a swollen gland and I'm worried about nothing Several weeks ago, Hugh developed what i thought was an abscess because it was kinda squishy. Of course, 'tumour' is never far from the mind, either. It was about the size of a pea and sort of on his chest, toward his underarm. The vet sucked some stuff out of it and said it wasn't either, and just a sebaceous cyst and didn't really need to be removed unless it got alot bigger or interfered with his movement. Amazingly it SHRUNK, and very quickly thereafter, too! Other cysts he had over the years didn't. Then I felt it again couple of weeks ago and there seemed to be TWO small ones (can these things divide??) Then I checked a few days later and there was only one, even smaller. Hopefully it will turn out to be nothing, LJ!! Best wishes to your little one!

Hopefully it will prove to be just as minor. Best wishes, again.
Several years ago I drained an infection swelling on a gerbil. Search on this site for "Wonderful pus!". Go back 4 or 5 years, if interested. I got it all out with a pin - just a tiny hole and I squeezed. No idea where the infection came from.

So sad that ratties are so tumor/cyst prone. I am thinking that I was a rattie in another life, because I too have a myriad of health problems.
