Hi guys, Well finally we got this device that allows my brother's laptop and our computer to have connection at the same time so I can finally come on!! I've missed not being here with all of you! Now for the questions, a friend/co-worker of mine has a dog that has separation anxiety and he's tried everything from moving things, treats, but does not want to crate. Is there any way to break his dog from this anxiety? Also he's fostering an older Pit Bull and wants to know if anyone here or anyone you know would want Teddy or Buddy. Buddy is another older PB that desperately needs a home or he'll be put down soon. So could you all ask around please? I know both of them are on petfinder.com, but I told him I would put it up here to ask too. See you all later, Kate

I went through hell last year trying to foster out a PB here in Brooklyn that was owned by a friend of the guy who adopted the fancy rats and had to return them to me. I was told directly contradictory things by both of them as each blamed the other: the owner was moving, and blah blah. I don't want to remember it all. Eventually he claimed Lola (as I think the dog's name was) found a home in NC where he had friends. True? At that point I just wanted to not be involved for emotional reasons - too distressing. Lola was part Staffordshire Terrier. You will have to search for pit bull rescue in NJ, and call shelters there for advice. I am not in NJ. Get in touch with these people also: www.njn.net/television/njnseries/homelesstails/There is also Craigslist. Be sure no animal abusers/dog fighters get a hold of the critter. I have no time, I live in NY, and do not want any emotional involvement as I have more than I can handle now and do not feel well. Good luck. P.S. You really should have posted that about the dog in Animal Rescues, subject line "Dog Needs Home", or some such.

I'm not asking you to get involved or bring up any emotional stress for you. All I was asking if you or anyone else knew anyone who wanted an older PB, either Teddy or Buddy. That's it, nothing attached.
Just ask around and a bunch of people already did put it up on Craig's list and will definitely make sure these two dogs get wonderful homes. If it belongs in animal rescues, I guess one you mods will have to move it there, sorry.
I hope you feel better and I will show him the link you provided. Anyone else?

You'd have a better chance of someone seeing it if in that forum. I will move it. And change the title. From my past experiences there are many dog sites where rescues can be advertised; general pet sites, too, with dog forums, such as Petshub. Robin is in central NJ. I'd PM her. I have no way to get a PB adopted out here in Brooklyn - extremely hard. I have no idea about NJ. And it is all harder with the current economy. I am home all day doing housework and critter work - rainy dark day; nowhere to go, and I feel on low ebb, like one does when just getting something; lassitude, minor aches, other things. Taking extra Vitamin C. Not a good week. See a PM later. You also should have added a contact number or e-mail in case a Guest who can't post sees it.

I'll tell my friend about it and it's also on petfinder.com. If anyone is looking to get Teddy or Buddy, I'll contact my friend and he'll come here with the info or tell it to me to write to all of you.

Petfinder is of course a good idea.
If the animals are being rehomed, then Craigslist is ok. The thing to do would be to post on more than just the South Jersey Craigslist. Add in Philly, Jersey Shore, and Central Jersey as well.
If I remember correctly my vet posts info on animals to adopt. Maybe that's something that can be explored--put the info where the animal lovers actually are.
I don't know of anyone who wants a dog right now.
