Help! I've found an injured wild animal - what do I do now? Here is another good site with some answers. They are located in Texas, but the information applies all over. It is always good to see people who care. Wild Rescue of Texas. www.rescuedrabbits.org/

You can also call your local ASPCA/SPCA, shelters/nature centers can help and see what they will do or they can direct you to someone else. Also one can call the animal control, they help out too.
Nice site.

Don't call animal control in NYC and maybe elsewhere for certain animals - they do kill animals. Animal Care and Control, ACC, in NYC tries, but it is not a no-kill shelter. That was why in February of 2006 I spent half a day in the store room trying to free a feral cat. "Why don't you call ACC?", I was asked. "Because I want the cat freed not killed".

Not all animal controls are like that. I called one for help with a baby bird my friend and I found and he was nice enough to help us with some names.

Great. I have no idea what the NYC ACC would do with such a question. But with baby birds, or such as squirrels or the like, I would inquire about licensed rehabbers. I have been reliably informed NYC ACC does put down animals. Many. But they do seem to at least try to get them adopted. I know; I have one here I care about greatly.
