Today my gerbil noodles was eating a funyun on my chest, I got to watch him put all of it in little cheeks and he qwas so cute the way he moved his mouth and tongue to fit it all in. when he was finished he looked like a little chipmunk. In his cage he will grab food and run and hide to eat it from the others but when they are on me they just sit there and eat, It makes me feel good that they trust me to be able to do that A few weeks ago I was eating popcorn on my bed and Skittles came up smelled the popcorn and he reach into the bowl and got one, he sat on my thigh eating it, lol we were eating popcorn together. I love my babies

That is a very sweet post, deana. Maybe because I have so many I don't have enough time with each, so they never ate in my hand. I have discovered they love to go after live crickets, though.

Aww...that is so cute! I remember how I would hold Sophie & she would eat a carrot as I was holding her. It's funny to see them carrying food too, you're so afraid that they're going to get stuck in the tubes.

I've never fed crickets, my Honey won't let me bring live bung (specially noisey ones) into our house LOL All of my gerbils eat from my hands, even the Fosters, But while they are in quarantine they live upstairs with me and we spend alot of time hand taming, so that really helps. I love feeding gerbils hand treats, some I can have them take them from my mouth, not Chevy though, he always bites my lip! LOL
i's funny I've never seen a gerbil fill the sides of their mouths with food, though I have little piggies that will try and hold as many sun flower seeds as then can in their mouth LOL.. little goofy gerbils.

Very cute stories! I like it when Fuzz is on my chest and either washes his face right in front of me or unpouches something and goes to work on it.

Cutest gerbil story I have is about Sam, who sadly is in my Memorial Gallery. He was the smartest gerb I ever had, and would jump on me at every opportunity; he wanted to climb all over me. I used to take off my shirt, bend over, and let him run on my back. He never jumped off, just jogged from one side to the other. It tickled outrageously well. I miss him a lot.

oh yeah my gerbils loves sunflower seeds and that is another thing they put in thier cheeks, I don't know how they carry so much doesn't look like much can go in there, I feed mine mill worms when I think to buy them, they eat them up so fast and look for more lol I have to make sure they are eating them those because they turn into bugs. If I knew they would eat the crickets I may get them a few but I don't like hearing them either. I don't take off my shirt lol but my gerbils are over me inside my shirt everywhere I have what looks like a road map on my chest. I stay calm about it all. My son freaks out when they crawl on his bare skin, I guess some people can take it and others not.

I never got scratched by Sam. He just quickly walked from one side to the other, stopped, and then went to another side. Tickled so good.

Critter went down my shirt every chance she got. Pinky: no interest. Fuzz won't even stay on my shoulder--he immediately crawls down the front of me to my lap. It's interesting how they are all different.

That is what surprised me most about gerbs, hams, all of them. Even siblings from the same litter had very distinct personalities. Makes them more endearing.

Benny used to crawl into my sleeve and then pop her little head out sometimes. She was so cute. I tried this on Sophie, didn't take, she was too afraid. Sometimes I would let Sophie go on my Dad's back, it was funny to watch her slid off as I would grab her as soon as she was on the carpet. Also I would let her roam around on the carpet, but I would be supervising her so she couldn't go into anywhere that would be unsafe for her.

My GPs loved to hide under my shirt. A few of them actually, sometimes, fell asleep on my chest after a few big yawns.

Aww.
I remember one time Benny almost fell asleep on me as I almost fell asleep too. But I was awake enough to remember to put her back in her home before going to bed. That was the year we took Benny & Theo up to my aunt/uncle's cottage in Saratoga. I did the same with Sophie years later except she stayed in her home & I only took her out at night when the dogs weren't around.

I tame young gerbils buy wearing big sleeves that they can explore and play in. it works so well.
When i was younger and had my first two gerbils, I once put a gerbil down my B/F at the times shirt... she nipped his nipple! was SO funny! (well he didn't think so)

The reality is they relax ME so much they pay for their keep many times over. Better than valium.
