On the 24th of this month Luke is going away. Don't worry he'll be back in two weeks; he's going to further his training somewhere where he'll come back a well-trained little puppy. Years ago my grandmother's dog, Poco, went to this place and he's 13 now and is still well-behaved as ever. So that's where Luke will go; we will see what the place will look like this Thursday. It's in Seaville, NJ and he'll be gone for two weeks, boy are we going to miss the little dude. But he'll be fine, we know, and will know his place in the family as a dog and we'll be trained to, to know how to handle him, etc. This is their website: www.dogtrainingbyronwilliams.com/index.html

>> Dog Training is a God Given Talent, an Art Form, every dog is different, you can't train every dog the same. That's why books and video's do not work. << Interesting, and makes sense. I assume he charges an arm and two legs. This is another advantage cats have over dogs - no lengthy and expensive training needed! My deceased friend, Mary, sent her Lab, Jerry, to these guys, famous monks who train dogs: www.newsketemonks.com/training.htmCheck them out. What is YOUR role in all this? See this site? Opinions? www.apdt.com/po/ts/choose_trainer.aspx

Yes it is pretty expensive, but if you look at where it is you'll understand why. And yes I have heard and seen (on tv that is) the monks train dogs and they're good too. It'll be weird without him. I was telling Robin today that I'll still walk at the same times, though.

Glad the bad economy has not slowed you guys down, what with the cost of the dog, grooming, etc., and now this fellow. >> It'll be weird without him. He is in NJ, as you are. ^Luke is going to be staying in someone else's home being trained every day for different things besides the normal commands. Plus they'll be feeding him, etc. And that's for two weeks. Glad the bad economy has not slowed you guys down, what with the cost of the dog, grooming, etc., and now this fellow. ^Nah I think most people who have pet stores will be fine as people want their pets to have the best. That's a nice sentiment. You can revisit all the places where he pooped! ^ I meant in a sense when Luke comes back I'll still be used to waking up early and walking when we did. I just found out something, that was the old website I put above, yesterday I found their new one, right here: www.williamsdogtrainingcompany.com/

Lol it sucks when you have to send your dog away for training. I was trying to tell my mom she should do that with her dogs as she's not doing it herself... yargh. (and she untrained my dog in the process, it's kind of a sore spot with me right now)
Random side note: Your grandmother's dog is named after the shortened version of the city I live in. Port Coquitlam is quite often called PoCo.

That is annoying Dez when people do that or un-train a dog. Maybe it'll get to be too much for your mother and she'll see that you were right with training the dog right. Oh that's neat. How do you pronounce the second word? Poco actually means in Italian "small" although Poco turned out to be anything but small. So Luke has left and has already been with them for four hours. I hope he is doing well; I miss him. I'll let you all know how he's doing when I write to Mrs. Williams.

I remembered this date.
I assume he will recognize you all when he returns. . . well trained.
Trained to do what? I can presume, but better you tell us, specifically. Like, not bark at other dogs or sniff their butts outside?? To not jump on a dinner table and eat food?

I assume he will recognize you all when he returns. ^Oh yeah he'll recognize us! Trained to do what? ^Well he'll do the basics a bit better. And there were some problems we had with him that we needed help with, say for example he would sometimes bark/growl at people. I would remove him from that situation and then put him back in again and usually by doing that he was quick to pick up he couldn't do that. Mrs. Williams explained to us that since he's a male dog and in intact, thus far, he has this tendency to protect the woman in his life. So he was protecting my mother and I, but me more than normal. When we pick him up, on the 8th, Mrs. Williams will also train us how to better respond to Luke, how to deal with his problems, etc. So that will be good.

>> remove him from that situation << One thing that reminded me of is that critters want attention, good or bad. So that removing them or ignoring them - and therefore not reinforcing the bad behavior - is very important to do. GROWL!!!!! He ever try to bite? Chomp! You know my cats have never shown the slightest hint of any aggression towards me. I am in charge! And they know from the tone of my voice to knock something off. In fact I tell them, "KNOCK IT OFF!". BTW, in the Members Only forum is a link in a thread I put up yesterday that you obviously didn't read. There is a photo of an NYPD dog in the photo link I wanted you to try to ID.

No, Luke has shown no aggression, even when some have growled at him.
in the Members Only forum is a link in a thread I put up yesterday that you obviously didn't read. ^How about instead of being sarcastic, you give me the benefit of the doubt that I didn't see it. Thursday was yesterday and if you recall I was off sending Luke to training school and was doing other stuff. I had no time to be on the computer.
There is a photo of an NYPD dog in the photo link I wanted you to try to ID. ^I will check it out tomorrow since I'm going to bed now because tomorrow is a big day.

Coquitlam? Ko-quit-lum is how you would pronounce it. PoCo is quite often called PoCo Loco because it is home to Riverview. It is the largest and first mental health facility in British Columbia. Anyways.
How's Luke? He home yet?

Luke arrives home on the 8th. Mrs. Williams wrote back to my e-mail and said Luke is adjusting well and his progress is good so far. So I'm going to write back to her today.
