So I currently have four mice fosters and am absolutely loving them!
Rabbit: (sorry pic is bad, although I think I have posted before)
Rabbit was the first I got and is alone in a 10gal tank. I haven't the experience to confidently sex him/her and the lady in our rescue group who does is on vacation. We don't know much about his/her history, but he/she got sort of a funny body shape. He/She's more rounded back and tubby than the others, which makes him/her look a lot smaller than the girls. He/She's a red-eyed and white (which I'm guessing is a red-eyed white?) and is so scared of the world. I've been working on taming with this little guy and... let's just say it's a long process! I had a bit of a breakthrough today when Rabbit was sitting in the top of his/her hammock and I put my hand in and he/she climbed onto it and ran up my arm, so I was pretty happy. Definitely on the right track!
I have three unnamed females in an old hamster cage. (seen here when set up for my Chinese ham) The cage now has two wire-mesh wheels, two mini igloos, and a Terry's Chocolate Orange box as they love shredding them and poking through all the holes. I also found the water bottle and dish that go with the cage, so they are in there as well. I really want to get them into something a bit taller so I can add more things for climbing and a hanging water bottle they can't chew through.
The girls were dumped at a Tack & Feed store next to where the rescue keeps it's storage. This was May of last year and they were babies when they were found. They were adopted out shortly after they were found and we thought everything was going to be hunky-dory. We do follow up with all of our adopters usually after a week, then a month, then every few months. On the last follow up they had emailed and said something along the lines of "by the way, one has something wrong with her eye and we are tired of them, blah blah blah". Of course one of our volunteers went over and ended up taking all three back with her. So they went into the vet, got meds for the one, clean bill of health for the other two.
The one with an eye issue is a gorgeous dark dark dark brown colour with black eyes. She's the shiniest of the three and because I give her eyedrops twice a day, she's the most tame. The other two are almost identical red eyed whites. I can't tell them apart yet, but they take turns climbing up my arm. They are definitely faster than Rabbit and more tame as well.
I will try to get up pictures of girls, unfortunately my cell is my only camera and it doesn't do well for action shots.
