After about a week of split caging, we put Sam and Simone together. The hand intros over the week went extremely well. Sam groomed Simone's head in my hand and Simone vibrated almost every time I held them both. One day they were both purring in my hand.
It was about a little after 9am that we took the split away. No aggression. Just a couple of small spats but that is it. They had plenty of tubes to chew. Lots of sniffing and some head grooming by Sam. After a few hours, either one would sleep in the nest while the other played around. Sam was up most of the afternoon. Just excited I guess to have a girlfriend. Right now, Simone is buried in the nest while Sam is very near Simone on top of the nest. Sam did let Simone groom him a little. So that's good.
Sam is one year old and Simone is 2 1/2 yrs old. Simone lost her best friend Mona recently. Tank is going to the bedroom tonight as a precaution but the signs look good.

Grats on the intro. They can be tricky. I am guessing this is a male/female pair? Are you not worried Simone may get pregnant at her old age? I would be terrified of the complications of birth on such a older girl.

Unless Sam is short for Samantha and they're both female?

The chances of Simone becoming pregnant are very small. After 2 years old, there is little chance that females can have pups. Sam is a year old male.

Sam and Leslie were names given to baby GP's by me - androgynous names before i sexed them! Sam is still here and happy with Lester. Leslie died long ago and is very much missed. Glad the intros went well. I have commented many times on how hard it is, and how I too often ended up with TWO gerbils living alone instead of one.

Changes are slim yes, but there are still there.

That's good that the intros went well and hopefully Sam and Simone will become tank mates for a long time.

Good for them! But I posted above about Lester; sadly, he died recently. See Memorial forum.
