I suspect Aniseed may have a bladder infection, so she's at the Vet's today getting checked out. Though she's been active and eating, she's been leaking urine and seems to not be able to control it. My poor little girl

She has an infection and bladder sludge (calcium buildup), so we're on antibiotics and i am keeping her back end clean as she is incontinent from this My Poor girl.

"Bladder sludge"? Oh, boy. Another concern. Leaking urine is a symptom I assume.

Bladder sluge is common in rabbits, usualy older ones, ones who have mobility issues and then ones who are fed high calcium diets. All of which Ani is not... so some believe certain rabbits are just prone to it. The leaking is either from the discomfort of the infection, or from teh sludge... i'm thinking the infection. But we won't know untill we get rid of the infection.

What foods should I avoid to not get so much calcium?
Movement helps prevent it?
Sheez.

there is a list I think on HRS website for foods, and it indicates the calcium rich ones. Veggies like Spinich and kale are high in calcium.

Did you ever find a comparison between the Martin's Less Active and the Martin's Adult (if I remember, that's what they're calling the new less active formula, but I could be wrong). I couldn't find it anywhere.
For those looking at me like I've gone crazy, there was a discussion on the rescue forum about the new mixes of Martin's rabbit foods' calcium contents and if the newer formula (which supposedly has less calcium) could help prevent sludge.

it's a 2% different, olds .8% and news .6% I believe it was. And the enw ones has no alfalfa in it, so that would be the different maker.
Ani is doing very well... She actually BIT me last week though, I was not impressed.

Nope, it was a full out mean bunny bite, i was not impressed. Maybe this shows she's feeling better? LOL I've not seen a damp bum or any signs of leaking urine since last week now, so I think we're doing well.
