I Have a batcherla group of gerbils and I am thinking of getting one more rescued gerbil. I have already made a split screen cage out of a sterile bin. but I was just wondering what you think, so is it a good idea or not. thanks.

Excellent you are thinking of a rescue.
But it is commonly accepted knowledge among gerbil people that introductions only work (usually) with ONE gerbil being introduced slowly (two weeks) to ONE gerbil.
Introductions involving groups invariably FAIL and should be avoided. And by "fail" I mean one gerbil is viciously attacked. I have posted in this forum a lot of information and photos of my split screens. I have also mentioned that some of them, even when they are switched from side to side daily, even after two weeks, still have failed. You never can tell.

I have posted on this forum easy ways to get split screens and how to use them in ten gallon tanks. Please read them. Be especially aware that the gauge of the screen must be heavier than normal window screen gauge or they WILL gnaw through it.

DM is very correct. Unfortunetly it is near impossible to introduce a single (or pair of) gerbil to a bonded pair/group. The new gerbil is seen as a intruder and will be attacked and killed if left to defend him/her self. The only way to have a group is to get them all under 10 weeks of age.

Just one on one. Anything over one on one is trouble.

I was wondering would it work with two on two, or is it just normaly one on one thanx No. I know that from not only many experts' accounts of failed intros, but my own experience.
