Speaking of stuffed gerbils, a favorite TV show is Globetrekker, on the PBS stations: globetrekkertv.com One show was in Paris, and there is a sort of taxidermy store there that sells all manner of stuffed critters, from tigers and really big critters on down. Some very unusual rare animals, all who died natural deaths, supposedly. www.pilotguides.com/tv_shows/globe_trekker/shows/europe/paris_city_guide2.phpSome people had come in to have their pets stuffed: many cats were there, but I also saw several hamsters and gerbils! Yep. Real stuffed gerbs. Anyone have any opinions are stuffing and preserving them that way?? As for me I have seven here. The two newest, Francis and Stella, I have a separate thread on. I do need to update them all with photos. I did that with four old rats (see thread in Rats), and I am glad I did as they soon passed away. Very busy here. Will post on the gerbs asap. Right now I am looking for a female friend (not pregnant) for the new girl rat sticking her head out of my shirt at this moment, Fannie. I am stroking her head. Her brother is in with a blue and a hairless behind me but I am having a little trouble finding a friend for her. Have some possibilities. We all have had many deaths recently. See the Memorial forum. later. . .

Unless you want something really crazy. I really try to get as close to real gerbil colors as I possibly can. I recently found a yarn that looks much like a Pied or Mottled Siamese. It came out so cool! The self colors are easy. It is the other ones that are a challenge. My Siamese gerbil was the most popular at the last gerbil show I attended.

I saw a stuffed hamster in a magazine once and they say they're popular. Those are good, gerbilgal! As for really stuffing your animal, I believe that's called taxidermy, I wouldn't. But to each his/her own.
