I have forgotten a lot of the many gerbil colors as I have not paid close attention to that--mine are agoutis and black, rescues. But I can see the colors developing, clearly!

I checked undersides this morning as they are now 7 days old. I am going to double check daily until I know for sure. I believe I have two little girls and a boy. The boy being the gray one. His belly is completely clean of nipple dents. It was funny yesterday because the gray pup decided to venture out and find dad. He found him. Sam was chewing a tp roll. This week I believe I am expecting the pups to be more mobile. Also this past weekend, I saw the pups nursing. It was so cute.

Nipple dents! I never tried that. I could wait. Any way to post a video?

Funny you should ask. I actually made a small video of the pups this evening. 8 days old. Looks even better full screen. Here is the video:

Enjoyed the video! Names. . . . well, the two are the color of pumpkin pie and the other the color of Carefresh. The first observation may be helpful but the second, probably not so much!

Like to colors coming in.
I long ago got "named out" having named so many. See Katie's (hamsters82) sticky thread on her ceramic/glass animal collection. It is LOADED with names! >>http://kanez.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=MO&action=display&thread=3050<<

For names...Pumpkin like Robin said, Peanut for the other brownish baby and Dusty for the little gray one??? Just some ideas. The babies sure are adorable and I'm loving watching them grow up. The video of the babies has been played over and over again at my house because they are so cute.

>>Like to colors coming in.<< I meant "like to SEE. . ."! The names are good. I have some spiny juvies. The adults get sexed soon!

Cute! It wasn't clear from their actions what they wanted to accomplish till the end, when it was evident that all they really wanted was a pileup! And better in a cage than on a highway!
I love their little tails!

Nice. Wonder if you play with them when they are a little older they will be more tame. I know that works with rat babies, and the moms don't care about the human finger smells; not sure of gerbil moms care about different smells.

I have been handling them since they were 5 days old. As long as my hands were clean, the parents didn't mind at all. They trusted me enough to handle the pups. One of the baby girls opened her eyes today. We decided on Milly as her name and Bobby for the boy. Still need to think of one more name. Milly has a straight tail while her twin sister has a kink in her tail. It is the only way I can tell them apart. I watched the cutest thing this morning. I saw one of the baby girls carrying a piece of bedding back to the nest to show mom and dad. It was like she was saying: "Mom! Dad! Look what I found!"
