Rare Dogs: 3rd thread

Well the last one went up to 19pgs and now it's time, to me, to start a new thread. This week and this first post will start with the Carolina Dog, which I read somewhere is the official dog down there.

They are from the USA, obviously, and are said to be shy, they love to hunt, and are a companion dog. This is them here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carolina_Dog

I don't think Dingoes are fully domesticated even though I've heard some people keep them as pets. Just like wolves, they're going to show wild tendencies cause ultimately they are wild.

This week is the the Danish Swedish Farm Dog. You'd think they'd either come from Denmark or Sweden. Which one? If you chose Sweden, sorry you're wrong. They're from Denmark! Phew, finally I have enough time to just change my avatar. So this week is the Kai Ken from Japan and they're said to be friendly, gentle, and a good hunter. This is them here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kai_Ken

Again changing the picture to a breed of dog called the Lapinporokoira and they're from Finland and are said to be (oh yes they are a nice looking breed) well-mannered, strong, and they love to herd.

Several days ago my modem died, and it took a lot of time to diagnose the problem. Like I am not busy enough?? So no DSL. I am right now on a slow old dialup laptop, and I will look at the stuff above when the DSL is back. Thanks for posting it. Sorry I am SO busy.

The Kai Ken is considered to be the most ancient, and purest dog breed in Japan.[citation needed] It was developed in the isolated district of Kai (Yamanashi Prefecture) as a hunting dog.[citation needed] Kai were used to hunt boar and deer. ^You're welcome. Here are some more since I'm changing my avatar today. They're called the Portuguese Watchdog and obviously are from Portugal. They're said to be quick, loves to work, and are a determined dog.

Consequently, for centuries, huge herds, accompanied by powerful mastiffs, were driven between the northern region of Douro and the Alentejo hinterland. As the population settled down, the dogs eventually remained in the southern prairies, where they adapted and began to be used to guard, not only the herds, but especially, in time, the big rural estates. However, it was not before 1953 that, thanks to a census carried out at the end of the 1940's by two distinguished sinologists (António Cabral and Filipe Romeiras), the official standard of the Rafeiro of Alentejo was established. In the 60's and 70's this breed declined dramatically, both in quality and quantity, the most critical point being reached in the early 80's. It is, however, with great satisfaction that we can say that at the turn of the century this situation has been overcome, thanks to the zeal of a small but resolute group of breeders, who, with dedication and perseverance, are carrying out the rewarding task of ensuring the continuity of the Rafeiro do Alentejo. Today, even though the work must continue unabated, we can say that this precious heritage will be bestowed on future generations. <<

Wow, I have not been on in a long time, but I'm on a bit now and can change my avatar back to dogs. It was shark week last week, hence why I had a Great White, but now it's the dogs again.

This week or whenever I change is the Rajapalayam dog from Southern India and they're said to be affectionate, a good guard dog, and I've heard a one-man dog. This is them here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rajapalayam_(dog)

This dog is definitely in my top ten favorites of the rare breeds! He is called the Stabyhoun and he's from the Netherlands. They are said to be calm, vigilant, and affectionate.

I'm still going to change my avatar and see if you want to see the pretty rare breeds. Also I want to get off dogs and go to other animals; anyway here's the pretty Thai Bangkaew Dog is up and he's from Thailand and they're said to be alert, protective, and intelligent.
