In the last two months I have had 7 foster gerbils adopted! ;D
Just last weekend I had 4 girls go to a brand new home, I'm going to miss them as they were so very sweet.
I've very proud to say I am down to 18 gerbils!!!!!
I haven't been under 20 gerbils in my home in a few years now! I own 12 gerbils of my own and then have 6 fosters, 5 of them awaiting new homes. The one who won't be leaving has a large internal tumor, and so though she is fine and happy, she could go downhill any time She's a lovely black gerbil I have named Meg.
I 'may' be taking in one more gerbil if a woman is able to sneak it away from a sure death sentence (Reptile food), and if i get this gerbil I am going to try and split cage with with another foster gerbil.
I also got a call from a lady looking for a pair of young female gerbils, which i don't have any 'pairs' at the moment, so i am going to keep an eye out for her, and call her if any of my intros go well.
Also, last weekend I found Peej my 3 year old Siamese male with a large 'growth' sticking out of his ear canal. It didn't bother him any, but it blocked the whole ear canal, I'm sure giving him difficulty hearing and not allowing waxes to leave the canal.
I brought him to my Vet and we removed the growth... it would have been easier if he hadn't latched onto my Vets finger! We had to pry his little mouth off her! It was awful.
It took us no time to cut off the little (well big on a gerbil) growth, and then he was back to his happy little self, though he shed his fur to try and get away from us, so is missing fur around his neck But it'll gown back.
That's about it for gerbil news, my numbers are down, and so far none of my split cage intros have been working out, but I'm not giving up just yet
