We were to the vet 10 days ago for symptoms of poor appetite, decreased thirst and urination, general lassitude, etc. The vet found his kidneys to be swollen and asymmetrical. We can't know how his kidneys were prior, but he's always peed buckets and had had high ketones in his urine, so something's been amiss all along. Anyway, Frasier rallied for a few days but now we're almost back to where we were ten days ago, this in spite of the Baytril and supplemental syringe feeding. I think we're looking at the end, sadly. Anyway, he is resting comfortably and I have to distract myself with exam grading. Not easy, since I'm having a hard time. . .

Aw, poor Frasier; I hope he's feeling better. How is he doing now?

Strangely enough, he's doing ok. He's still not eating as he had but he's eating. It's a bizzaro diet of tofu, chicken baby food, brown rice, oatmeal, shredded wheat, ground walnuts, yogurt, cheese, beans, and broccoli buds. He's back to peeing buckets and drinking buckets, which is normal for him. He has energy and runs on his wheel some. That spell of dehydration shrunk his fluid pouch down to nothing, which worried me at first because when that happened to Ethel she passed soon afterwards, but he is holding his own. Thanks for asking, Katie!

He's still doing ok! Yay! I love him to death--he always makes me smile.

Did Frasier and Ethel enjoy their Thanksgiving dinner?

Frasier's still hanging in there (see separate thread). Ethel passed last Christmas. You are probably thinking of Ping the Robo. They had a little bit of leftovers and did enjoy them, yes.

Darn. I had Ping in my last post, but then saw your one post and said to myself, "Oh shoot, her name isn't Ping but Ethel." I should've kept it in, sorry.
That's good about Frasier. Tell him, Luke and I say, "Hi!"
