Then Terrier Group was created from Sporting, wasn't it?

You're welcome and I don't think the Spaniels need their own group; they can stay with the Sporting Group. There aren't enough of them, in my opinion, to create a whole new group.
I'm not really sure where the Terrier Group came from, they say "terr" means "earth" so any dog digging in the earth to get varmint, is a terrier. I know the Non-Sporting came from different areas such as Sporting, Herding, etc because now that's not their purpose anymore as some animals shouldn't be hunted or most are now considered lap dogs and not guard dogs, etc.

Herding was part of Working once, but broke off in 1983.
