Well I have picked up the two new eepers and have named them Toejam And Earl. Luckily the lady who breeds the rats for the garden centre was there so I managed to get plenty of information on the two. Introductions are so far going well. Bart has been grooming them both for the last 5 minutes. No scuffles so far. One thing I am a little worried about, Toejam and Earl are so tiny compared to Bart but so far they have just been sniffing and washing each other. Toejam is the eeper sniffing my thumb, Earl is sat underneath him. Bart at this point was more interested in what my jeans smelt like (They are clean lol) I'm not to sure what colours they are as I never remember there names. I think they both have Berkshire in them (Though I'm probably wrong.) Kane

You didn't quaruntine them? Eep. I hope everything turns out ok. Also they are very small, I wouldn't have them in the same cage as Bart for another 2 weeks or so. There will undoubtedly be some scuffling to establish pecking order, and you'll want them to be big enough to stick up for themselves

I had the advice off another Rat only website. I do know the background of them both I couldn't bare seeing Bart so depressed.

Hello
I am new on here
Those rats are lovely Kane - they look like little badgers. I am desperate for rats like that - where did you get them from? It is great that you spoke to the breeder too - did she give you lots of advice? Maybe I could get one from her and she could help me with more stuff I could learn
What do you think?
Cary

It *is* necessary to quaruntine them [yes, I am in the UK]. I don't mean like importing quaruntine, I mean quarantining for two weeks to a month to protect them and the rat that Kane already has. Rats can carry diseases that can be highly contagious for other rats and you may not know it when you first get them, no matter what their background is. They could also be carrying mites or lice and you may not realise it at first. This is a precautionary measure, but I would not risk the health of my ratties in this way, the rat would have been fine for another 2 weeks on his own if given the proper attention, and I would much rather my ratties be lonely for a short period of time than bring in new ones and have them all die or be seriously ill. Just my opinion

"Toejam and "Bellybutton lint". Owing to the frigid cold, the showers at the health club have been frozen; worse, so were the toilets - they had to open up a fire hydrant, fill a bucket, and dump it in to flush. (I'm sitting here sneezing and sniffling from the damn cold, with the need to remove the detrius and assorted bric-a-brac from my bathtub, which normally I never use). I didn't even know my Gang of Four (Dill, Phil, Tommy, and Cliffy) were named for cartoon characters for almost a year until someone posted it on "PMS". Of course, on the other hand, almost no one knows who the women my hams are named after are (it's historical, the names). Nor does anyone know the origin of the Gang of Four reference I always use for the guys in the 20 gallon tank. (Anyone know?). Maybe we should all use Simpsons references - they would transcend age differences: little kids enjoy the action; big kids enjoy the lurid sexual allusions - some of which are so lurid I don't know if I can even describe them here! ;D

They are looking so happy and cute together! Tom and I have had this age discussion many times before, hehehe Well, not lately. I do remember telling (after she asked) a certain lesbian one morning after a long and celibate night that I was about a decade older than she was - and she looked like I just showed her my third eye on the back of my neck, or whipped out two more arms from under my shirt. Really. I feel just as good now as I did when I was Kane's age; the biggest difference is there is one thing I don't do as much. Think about it. ;D
