I can't believe we finally got a post in this forum!! ;D As for your dwarf, you seem very surprised - an immaculate conception perhaps, or was it a secret late night rendezvous? Anyway, best to them, and let's have some photos. Dwarf baby photos are unusual.

Congratulations to the mom and to you, Sunchaser. We would love to hear how this happened. My daughter got a hamster that turned out pregnant. *suprise*. I was visiting her and descovered the pregnancy. She delivered 8 hours later. What kind of dwarf do you have? What is her name, and how old is she? I can't wait to hear back from you.

Spice is a Campbell's Russian, about 2-3 months old, and her pregnancy was one of those times when you buy a pregnant female from the pet store. DF, I'm sorry about the photos, I don't know how to get them on the forum !!! They've got the fur marks on their back and the stripe. When they were born, there were 4. (no, I haven't touched them) Now there's 2, and they are growing wonderfully ;D. When should I give them away, and at what age do they wean ??

Why do you want to give them away?? You have only two. When my Syrian hamster, Rainy, had a surprise litter, after getting her from the pet store, I kept ALL TWELVE babies; nine are still alive after over 13 months and are still here and happy. (That meant separate bins/cages for each Syrian).

DF, is not that I want to give them away, I have to. My mom make sme keep the hamsters outside, and she won't let me get another cage for them. Besides, I know one of my friends has a perfectly good home, I know. She has taken care of 2 mice and 2 cats, and if the pups end up boing a boy and a girl, I'll keep the mom and the daughter.

Parents can be rough. ;D ;D
Usually babies turn up in pet stores at ages 2 - 3 months, sometimes a little earlier. Not that pet stores are always the best example, but it may give you some ideas as to time frames.

You know this thread is SEVEN YEARS OLD and those babies no doubt lived long lives, and died years ago?? Why do you need to wean them?? If they are 14 the mom is already doing that. If it is an emergency send a PM directly to Pinky and Andrea; they likely know the most on the subject.
