Yes some people like us are very observant of their animals, and ok rarely people can be with their animals 24/7 but the point I was trying to make is that I'd say 80-90% of small animal owners don't have a clue what they're doing until someone [i.e a vet] tells them what they're doing wrong.

I hope I'm in the other 10-20%.
I remain debating and unsure of the whole GP/rabbit thing, and about dwarfs if I don't get those degus. (The more advice the better).

I have recently adopted my mums guinea and he is on his own inside and he seems ok... I daren't get another guinea as when Bertie passes away then the younger guinea will be on his own... a vicious circle... He lives in my office at home where I work and so I am always around him and I pick him up and have him on my lap whilst I work - I make sure I give him love everyday. As people say very sociable animals. I guess this rabbit/guinea pig thing is difficult - I have heard horror stories of rabbits kicking their back legs and whacking guineas - killing them... Also I guess because Cavies need extra vit C in their diet because they cannot produce it themselves - I guess that would be difficult to control the rabbit not getting too much vit C aswell! ? Anyway just a few thoughts. I love guineas - they are like big hamsters! ;D Jo

As I mentioned in this forum recently, I just rescued/adopted two GP's in need of a home after their owner moved. I got Chip and Lily, plus a really good big cage, wooden house, bottle, and other stuff. Glad I waited and did not buy. I got so much free stuff! I will post photos of them soon. About piggies, do they tame like hamsters and get calm and used to us, or are they always a little shy? None of my Syrians are shy now. More on Chip and Lily soon. . . and I will have more questions!
