Since I don't ever recalling posting a picture of mu gerbils on here I have managed to take a picture of them all! It's not a very good picture as it's hard trying to get them all in one shot! Good job my Mom was around to help keep them all in! There names are Bing, Bong, Itchy and Scratchy. Kane

They tend to eat quite abit more of there normal hamster mix. Also for supplement to there usual diet you can give them a little plain scrambled egg, bread and milk (Bread is soaked into the milk). You can also buy special vitamins for rodents, but to be honest, I have never used them in my life. I have bred many successful litters, I don't recommend people doing it unless that have some serious research.
hope that helps

Yeah it's in the outer rim, General Grevious have been hiding there, but when I caught him he ran off, as he always does! Yup Linda, I have some support Still the place can get very sticky at times. It's a shame Tom got banned, him and I was like a two man army back in the old days of PWS. Kane

Well I went to the rescue centre a few weeks ago deciding it was time for me to get another hamsters, having been without one for around 6 months Shes 8 weeks old today (she was born at the centre). I have named her Pepper. Shes already settled in well. So I suppose you want to see some pictures now eh? As you can see, shes a little mouldy Shes quite tame, though she moved pretty darn quick, still, It won't take long to calm her down. So could this be the start of a new Army..doubt it. But certainly I love the little critters again Kane

I will probably keep him if my auntie doesn't choose him. The gang is all here! I just had to take this picture. I unshelled a sunflower seed for little Ivan, (named after the hurricane) well he took it out my hand and held it. some how or other he mush have held it too tight as it jumped out of his paws, off his nose and flipped onto his head! In this picture he looks annoyed that he can't find it! Well thats all for now! Kane

Well the litter is one week old, there is both sadness and happiness to report. I found 6 dead pups, they were very tiny indeed. Strangely Velvet did not eat them, they were all in a line in the corner of the house. I buried them few moments ago in the garden in a little matchbox (The box was big enough for all 6) next to Hozza. Anyway enough of the sad news and lets get on with the happy news! The 6 remaining pups are very healthy and strong. They look so cute! I managed to take these while Velvet was having 10 minutes in her ball. Another picture of the privates! I couldn't resist holding one of the little fellas, thankfully Velvet doesn't mind me touching the pups. There so silky soft! By the looks of it there all going to be sable bar one little pink one which will possibly be albino. So what do you think guys? Kane

It's been a very long time since I had a new Syrian. The Syrian army is long gone with only Thunder left but today may mark the beginning of a triumphant return of the Syrian army (The dwarf army is still going strong!) Today I walked into my local pet shop to buy some filter pads for one of my tropical fish tanks and Lynn (who owns the shop) said she was just about to ring me, that shes got a little (well rather large) ham that needs a nice new home. At first I said no. With all the deaths I have had last year the this year I told myself I will be no longer keeping Syrians...that was the plan anyway! I looked at this big black ball of fluff and thought to myself what might happen if I didn't take her. So with my brain saying 'No Kane' and my heart saying 'Take her Kane' I changed my decision and brought her home. I have named her Velvet as her fur feels velvety. She hasn't really got a sad story other than no one wanted her and she had been in the pet shop for 3 months. At a guess she is 5 months old at the most. She's abit skittish but she will let you stroke her and will have food from my hand. So I bet your all saying shut up Kane, we want to see pictures! ...ok then here they are! Quite a big girl isn't she! Now maybe I will let her have a litter of pups with Thunder, but I am undecided on that at the moment. Kane

Tom, ask your vet about Cushings Disease. It's a disease that infects the skin, sometimes causing the symptoms you described.
The disease is usually associated with dogs, but I had a hamster with the illness a few years ago.

I always kept those habitrail wheels for my dwarfs.
I just use a standard solid floor wheel as a replacement.

No, Rainy is alot bigger than Sedna. I would say Sedna is the runt of the litter.

I had a call this morning from my local rescue centre that they have 2 3week old Syrians needing a good home. Apparently the mother died a few days ago and now they need someone to help rear them. Well I said ok. With DSD now eradicated from the barracks its now safe to have newcomers etc. After all my moaning that I will not have anymore rodents I get a call and my hard exterior cracks yet again to show my mushy side! I have picked up the 2 new recruits and they are heart melter's! Heres some pictures.. This is Rainy, She is a lovely grayish colour. Shes called Rainy because her colour is almost like evil rain clouds. Also it's a tribute to Zouave hamster Rainy who he lost a few weeks ago. Another picture of her. Doesn't that little face look so innocent? This little girl is Sedna. Named after the Greek god of water and the new planet discovered in the solar system. Sedna is alot smaller than Rainy but she has a lovely character. She looks like shes going to be long haired. A close up of that lovely little face! Since there both only 3 weeks old and still very small, I have decided to keep them together for a while. There both female so there no worries there. Not only that, they have just lost there mother so they only have each other at the moment (and me of coarse) So what do you think? I have re lit my passion for these little fur balls. I guess the DSD my army has was a test by the great Hozza to see how I would cope. I hope he approves of these new privates. Kane
