My father did that too, where he would visit the doctor every week for a shot. Thankfully all I need is a pill and my medahaler. I loathe spiders. I don't mind snakes anymore cause I had to handle them at Paws. The venomous ones, I'm staying away from.

Good thing there are caring people in this world who will nurse back to health any animal. Seems like Dolly and Polly are in a great place now to live the rest of their lives. Hats off to any person who helps an animal in need!

On the farm I was allergic to everything!! I'm not kidding either, I was allergic to: all animal shavings (we would use this for the horse stalls too), straw, GP/Chinchilla/Rabbit fur, dust (that they used for baths), dust in the attic, and smoke on some employees.
Oh let's not forget the hay! Although I wouldn't sneeze from that, my arms got these weird red blotches on them every time I had to carry them. I carried a lot because all the animals loved hay and it was given to them two times a day (morning and evening).
So yeah....I didn't stay too long around the animals that were always in their pens like the smaller animals. If I took out one of the chinchillas, I had to stay a bit away from their cage. I think within time I grew immune to some of it, but not enough where I had to stop taking my pill.
But some animals, I'm just not a fan of period. No offense to anyone here who has these animals. I know each can have a terrific personality, it's just I'm not a fan of the animal itself for one reason or another.

That's great!! With her running on the wheel, that won't mess up the stitches? Sorry if I keep asking about them, I'm just curious. Super! ^Thanks! It was loads of fun, but at the time I couldn't tell anyone I did that because some people I knew on other sites say it isn't good to keep them out longer than 20min. I never saw the big deal and they'd come to their door wanting to be out and to start playing!

Well of course. It could've also been that I'm not a fan of GP's. Their fur and bedding make me sniffle, so I didn't want to be around them too much. Maybe that's why I never developed a connection to them. Whereas with the rabbits, goats, etc I could.

Glad Jilly and Mable are A-OK! That's great that you found such a wonderful vet to do that!! Is Mable sore from her surgery? Or do you have to do anything so she doesn't bite her stitches? Both of them are very cute and I like the paw prints on her home. I don't know if this was a good idea or not, but both of us loved it....I used to play with Sophie and Chewie for about 3hrs. We would watch a movie from beginning to end.

The GP at Paws never connected with me. They were just cool animals to me, whereas Tippy, the mini pony or even Scooter, the Chinchilla, they connected with me and I with them.

I hope both Mable and Jillian are doing well. Is Jillian the type of hamster where you can play with her for many hours? That might help her lose some weight.

Your bird died? I'm so sorry, may she rest in peace. How old was she? Cause birds are supposed to live a long time; I wonder what went wrong. Anyway I'm very sorry again.

It looks like some sort of rodent, but I'm not sure what. Saw that you put it up on FB, so I went searching on Google. The closest I could come to it was an adult Dormouse.

We had to clean the GP cages every day. I hated that because that took up some time. Not too much, but enough where it was just like, "I want to get outside to feed those guys, but have to be stuck here with you."
I guess when you have your own GP it's different, cause I really didn't care for any of the ones at Paws.

Don't know. Bo, Cookie, and Thumper would always poop/pee outside their pens. It was easier to clean I thought, but Fawn would always go in her litter box, you could call it.
The threesome I would do every 2wks, Fawn? Every week! And boy did it smell. *holds nose*

The rabbits do not need training as they are den animals who naturally poop in one place. ^You should've said "normally poop in one place" as the Paws rabbits never pooped in their dens. Only one did, out of the four.

*snort* HSUS...I've heard some disturbing things about them. About how they say they're for the animals, but then a report came out saying they were the top shelters to euthanize animals. I can ask one forum again if you want the whole details. I don't hold much on anything that the HSUS or PETA says anymore, now that I found out that info about them.
I hear some people are upset with Boehner, but he didn't do all that bad today. I hear some of the money that was going to be sent to aid people from Hurricane Sandy had some extras that were in it that were going to be sent elsewhere. So that's why he turned down the bill. If the full money isn't going to Sandy, then why endorse it? All of that 60bil or 9bil should be sent to help the people, not just half.

They're outside of their pens? I hope you litter trained them then! Also, how are your birds and cats with them?
