tear up when you think about your hamsters that are in heaven? I was just reading a couple of threads here about Sophie & I was filling up again. And then I swear I heard a noise as if she was digging. I keep the best pictures of them on my wall. I have Benny, Harriet, Theo, and then Sophie. And after I say my prayers at night, I tell them I love them. Do you still tell them you love them too or what do you do? I just got curious.

I think about Critter and Pinky a lot, probably because when I look at Fuzz I'm looking at a hamster that looks almost like they did and has some of the same habits. I don't go to tears, though. Once in a while, though, I'll go out to Pinky's grave in the backyard and get a little misty-eyed.

Aww. I took a picture of where they're buried. See the last photo in my Memorial Photo Gallery in my sig. I get depressed thinking of all of Rainy's children gone: she had a litter of 12 on 1/9/03. Ten survived more than two months. Now, Prince and Cinnamon's lovely children are gone as are their parents, except for Rosemary, and she is almost two. I only cry a little thinking of Princess, Prince, and the painful way Rainy died. See the Gallery, and Search for her in the Hamster forum for the story. I have a big burial there upcoming, and I also have to update my Memorial Gallery. Soon.

I miss all my little buddies who have had to leave. I usually don't cry for any of them now, there are a few of my pets I do, but only b/c they were lost tragically. I'm also a very spiritual person, and I think that helps me to to feel good when I think of all my little critters, remembering all the good times we had together and fun memories, I feel so lucky to have been part of their special little lives.

Andrea--so true. It's great to think of the good times with them. I remember when we had our dwarfs & I said to one of my parents that we should take pictures of them so we have something when they die. I'm so glad we did that, even if we have so few. I found a picture of myself the other day (I think my Dad took it) and guess who's on my arm as always? Yup, my Benny.

It was sad the first couple of days after Cuddles and Emmie died. They were the best hamsters I ever owned but I don't believe animals go to heaven so I just don't think about it. I just can't stand when pets die so I've stopped owning them completely now. I officially have no pets now and I don't know if I will for a long time. I really enjoy learning about them though.

Really Noelani? You don't think there is a heaven for animals?
Aww, time will heal. I know it took me three years just to get another hamster after the dwarfs went. It takes more time than others, *hugs*.

About an hour ago I visited my deceased pets, buried safely in Brooklyn's Green-Wood cemetery all in one area in several big graves. All graves are intact. A lovely secluded place. I was at G-W doing Civil War research and getting monuments for dead soldiers who have none.

It's obvious I still want to own hamsters, hence the reason I'm still hanging around hamster forums but everytime I go to look at them I keep thinking, "aw, it will suck when he dies" so I just leave the pet store. I did see a hamster with the cutest face I've ever seen at our local pet store a week ago though, oh was he cute. lol

I understand, but this is not a hamster forum; it is not even a pet forum exclusively. I had a horrible loss of a beloved pet yesterday. I can't even discuss it. But I went out and rescued a new one; that helps us both.

aaww.. Sorry to hear you had such a recent loss DF <hugs> When I worked in the Vet's I would cry each and everytime I had to put a sick animal to sleep. They were not my pets, some I had only met right then and there but it is always sad none the less. But that day of sadness is made up in the days/months/years of companionship we have with our pets and the lifetime of memories. Death is part of life, wether we like it or not, "I" do believe I will get to see all my friends again and i think that really helps me to 'deal' with the losses I have had.
