*does a little dance where everyone is staring at her* I WAS RIGHT!!! ;D A Mop is a Komondor's nickname. See here: www.thetoque.com/animal_kingdom/mopping_up_with_the_mop_dog_20070209.htmlSo can't it also be found in Norway or Denmark? ^A lot of dogs have probably crossed the border into there. There are some dogs that specifically state that they're not seen out of their native land. I'm pretty sure I haven't heard this yet with the Icelandic Sheepdog, so it could be into other countries.

Good find. Interesting site, too, about the "mop dog". My GP. Lester, a longhair, looks like a big dust mop, by the way. How is that dog groomed?? Or does it just come that way? >> Himalayan Swiffer monkey << I just searched the web and the only hit I got was on this site above! That site has an "adult humour" section. check it out. Hmm. That site needs posting in the other forum! Thanks.

The way I hear a Komondor is groomed is that you have to brush them cord by cord. Long process, eh?

Too long for anyone but their owners or ones that want to buy them. As for the rest of us? No thanks.

Komondor came to mind when I read "Mop." But for some reason I didn't post that. Himalayan Swiffer monkey? Does it have long hair and look moppy? Swiffer is the name of a floor-cleaning device!

>> Himalayan Swiffer monkey? Does it have long hair and look moppy? <<
It was referenced in the link Katie supplied. The implication was it had a similar appearance to the dog. But that name clearly is descriptive and not the actual name. I suppose.

I just wish I knew what they were talking about, and if such a monkey exists. Never seen one.

Well I will do this today as we're leaving real early on Sunday for a baptism. So the dog right here is the Koolie from Germany. I just learned about him myself a couple of months ago, awesome! They're active, easy-going, and intelligent. Here they are: www.dogbreedinfo.com/koolie.htm

So that was the 'k'. Never heard of it. >> This breed is noted for its usual merle coloring, << Merle? The coat looks kind of different from the legs. About these kind of dogs, the working types. . . when they get too old to do what they usually did, do they get depressed or stir-crazy from lack of work, or inability to do their normal work?? I always wondered.

The merle is a blue coloring mixed with some black and patches of white. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merle_(coat_colour_in_dogs)When the dogs are too old for herding or whatever, the owner will find something else for them to do so they won't become bored. Some may take up agility that won't hurt their bones or frizbe, stuff like that.
