I assume those kind of tumors had metastisized (if that's the word for a gerbil) and could not be removed; i.e, the cancer was systemic although there were also the big localized tumors. (?). Everyone should check the Memorial Thread for more on Pyke who just passed. . . . . . . . . On another matter, as for hamster menopause mentioned above, Theodora's sister, Hypatia, was very smelly last night, so I guess they are not too old!

They could not be removed, because of where they were located - under his armpits - he would not have been able to walk, and the vet said surgery was inhumane. She drained them though - much of them was fluid.

Ah, in the lymph glands. I keep giving health checks around here, sometimes with trepidation. Sam has been getting bacitracin on his red nose for four days, and it is getting better. He is on relatively fresh Carefresh, after I took him and Dave off aspen following a red nose a few months ago. I wonder if I should try corncob again... Sam is less eager now to hop out and climb on me now, as I have to put the stuff on his nose. Which is a shame. He will recover. Wuzzy the mouse being the most diffident tried biting me a few times, so I put him in my palm several times and we got acquainted; we're cool now.
