I was not aware of the UV inspection technique.
Remember what was in the thread about CD. . . the GOOD vet I spoke to later told me no topical antibiotics, only internal antibiotics.
Of course I do not know if that is best, but that vet seemed toi really know her stuff and was very nice. She told me that and more, free, over the phone. Dr. Maria Salas, at animalKind in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
Good luck.

The UV inspection was a black light fixed to a magnifying glass. It will illuminate ringworm and will show foreign substances on the skin. One of the other things he tested for (I can't pronounce it, much less spell it) would have showed up as little sparkles under the black light.
The treatments for CD once it gets worse are mainly internal through food and water (depending on the severity) and he said most of them are forms of antibiotics and antihistamines.

Yeah, I understand why his clients like him. He showed me pictures of things to look for and bring Meeks in if I see. He showed me the different stages of it and gave me a some estimates on prices and treatments if different things came up. I'm not nearly as stressed out about it as I was before. Wow, he sounds fantastic!

It is REALLY nice to have a vet who actually knows rodents.

Yes it is! His old apprentice actually opened up his own practice two towns over and apparently is really good as well. I can always get a second opinion if need be.
