Don't dig tails?? Gerbils have soft furry tails - I like them so much I rub them between my lips. Feels nice. Rat and mouse tails don't bother me but they are not cute. *shudders* lol. My mom was always freaked out by tails, that's probably where I got it from. That's why I have only owned hamsters but my step sister had a gerbil a couple of years ago and I think the face is adorable. As long as I don't think about the tail, I can understand why people love rodents that aren't hamsters.

I love gerbils because of their tails, so soft and fluffy on the ends! Degu tails feel nice going with the hair, but against it feels aweful, very sharp like. When they sit on my sholder and their tail brushes my face the wrong way it feels icky and i have to move them. I had Magic out of the cage today, carried him around and let him run on the couch! He's still scared, but does very well when he's picked up, as long as i don't chase him, he will climb onto my hand without any problems YEAY!

So, Noelani, if you wanted to work through your tail anxieties you could start with a hamster with a tail! Check out Fuzz (see avatar) for a rodent tail you might be able to live with. . .

Rodents? You have seen my baby fancy rats? I like to hold them and kiss them all over their little pointy faces! They are adorable. Friendly and tame. I was advised by my friend Susan, the animal expert (see Other Pets forum), to not get MALE fancy rats as she was freaked out a little not by the tails but by the odd feel of their giant testicles! So now you can forget about tails with THAT image in your mind! ;D

Wait...wait...wait...you rub their tails between your lips? Gosh, I hope you're joking cause that's gross! Don't you know they roll in their....stuff. And that you could be getting germs in your mouth. Noelani--same. I don't mind hamsters, but any rodent with a tail I don't like. The only rodent I like with tails, unless they're not rodents, are ferrets.

>> Wait...wait...wait...you rub their tails between your lips? Gosh, I hope you're joking cause that's gross! Don't you know they roll in their....stuff. And that you could be getting germs in your mouth. << I hope you're joking. You seem to have a germ aversion. I kiss all my critters. I have been smooching with my new rats for weeks. Kissing that sun conure (see other thread) MIGHT not have been the best idea on reflection owing to dangers of the bird getting germs. It is commonly known the human mouth is LOADED with more germs than on any animal. So if anyone out there is French kissing tonight use Listerine first! Keep some handy, Kate, for the next date! Hey, that rhymes.

I kiss my hamsters too, always on the face. But I don't rub their fur on my mouth (or put the tail between it), that's just gross! And maybe the human mouth has more germs, but we don't sleep in our urine or feces. Animals do and those are germs right there.
And I'm not French kissing anyone! A normal kiss is fine with my future bf.

If he loves, respects me and is kind, then yes he will.

Sister is on the cheek, unless you just saw ESB. But I will eventually (key word there) give my future husband (no bf will get that!) what he wants. If he really wants that. Funny how this convo got going.

Had to share the new pictures! He's been hopping into my and which is great! Still affraid, but really enjoys being out and sits well in my hand without freaking out. The white on the tip of his tail is quite long, and he has a nice mottled backside.
