Jan. 9th, 2003 - Nov. 7th, 2004. She was one of Rainy's litter, and is now survived by her remaining siblings: Zeb, Ebony, and Hypatia (the last "panda bear" of that litter). Zenobia was friendly, and loved more than any other hamster to be taken out of her bin to forage, pouch, and horde her ever-growing stash of food. She was normal on Nov. 6th, totally normal. A day later, when some veggies went ignored, I looked in her box, and she was dead. No symptoms of any kind; and no indications of any disease or condition. She looked very peaceful, and that's a good way to go if you have to. RIP, Zenobs, and thanks. MEMORIAL PHOTO GALLERY

DF, I'm so sorry to hear of Zenobias' passing, she looked so much like my first hammie ever. I'm glad that she went peacefully and didn't suffer. I'm sure Zenobia and all of our other lost hammies are across the Rainbow Bridge waiting for us all, and playing as they wait. Cognac

Thanks. It helps when people uinderstand.
Sadly, the list of deceased pets has gotten surprisingly long in that Memorial Gallery. Well, their lives are short, but they got happy lives with me.

Very true DF they had very good lives with you and that's what you have to remember is that there is sometimes nothing you can do, and they go without any warning what so ever. You just have to think of the good times and know you did the very best you could. I know what good care you take of your little critters. Cognac

It's tough to know they go so soon, but we have to accept that fact. Even the best of professional care can't change the fact that they have limited live spans, although we can sometimes cure a disease or infection. But long lives? No, they have short lives, ephemeral lives, like flowers. I can't even imagine how someone who raised a dog from a puppy would feel having to put it down after 14 years together.

I keep telling daisy she isn't allowed to die. I have also informed her if need be she will be cloned. I know niether one is true but I don't want to think of the alternative. I love all my critters but Daisy is my baby. Cognac

Thanks to all for your condolences. I miss they way she used to stand on her hind legs in that bin hopping up and down wanting to get out, and sometimes standing on some tubes. . . and once in a while falling off in a heap. It's interesting how you walk by a bin or other habitat that first belonged to a deceased pet, and you can still see her in there as if she never left. To this day I always associate my CT2 cage with Princess, even though the wonderful Maggie was in there for even longer, and now Chocolate has moved in. They live on in our memories. . . and hearts, as Puck does in yours. Anyway, tomorrow Poppy the bunny, and Paxton the dwarf, have to get the nails clipped. Should be an interesting adventure.

I understand I still hear all the hammies moving around and resituating themselves, or getting up for food or water. Cognac

I don't know how people handle losing dogs they've had for 14 years. I would be distraught beyond words.
We remember so much, always.

One of my dwarfs, Jerry, is named after the lovely yellow lab of a friend who had to have that beloved dog euthanized in December. She, thanks to my urging and my information, later rescued a seven year old lab from the pound, but it took several months before she would do it she was so distraught, but they are happy now. She plans to have Jerry the lab's ashes buried with her when she dies.

Those are my plans as well. I'm so attached to Daisy I want her to do everything with me. I want her to be in my wedding next summer. I had my vehicle inspected yesterday and sat outside with Daisy. I treat Daisy much like a child. Cognac
