They are all gone now. All 15. The famous Zeb left us early on the 18th of May, at the age of 28 months; his sister, Ebony, also left us recently. She never looked old, but Zeb was rather decrepit towards the end, and this was expected.
It was on January 3rd, 2003, I brought "Rainy" home, on a very rainy night. She came out of a bin with no males and seemed not to be pregnant - on the 9th I found out different with a litter of 12! I want to thank those who helped me online with advice when I was not knowledgeable about babies, and I especially thank those who sent me a great deal of hamsters supplies, including two Habitrail Space Stations, amounting to several hundred dollars. It was a great kindness, and those supplies are still in use: Dion is in one Habitrail, and a mom and daughter pair of dwarfs in the other.
A few babies died early on, Larry as a runt, and Peter at 2/5 months. Nine months later, the others started to go: Ringy, Onyx, Rainy the mom, Boudicca, Theodora, Makeeda, Raven, Zenobia, Stanley (Zeb and Makeeda's son), Hypatia, Blanche (Zeb and Makeeda's ovely all white daughter), and Ebony. Now Zeb. Thankfully, only Rainy and Makeeda had difficult deaths.
Zeb was quite a guy, a bundle of energy always with his own mind about what he wanted to do - very different than Ebony that way. His pom poms were world famous. I said my good-byes to him several days ago.
Zeb attempting an escape!
The famous pom poms.
Zeb playing the piano.
After Zeb bit me!! ;D It was my fault. (Do not open if afraid of blood!). OUCH!
Zeb in the bell of my trumpet.
Zeb's second birthday last January.
Thank you, Zeb. Give my regards to your mom and all the others.
