In July of 2002 I got my first gerbils - all pups a month old: Crystal, her sister Chrissie (cream), her brother Cliffy (golden), and his three black nephews, Dill, Phil and Tommy.
I greaty enjoyed watching them in their carriers as I came home from the breeder, so much so I missed my subway stop! They all had AGS pedigree papers.
The four guys lived in a group, as did the two females.
They are all gone now, and all of them are in this Memorial Gallery. Crystal was my favorite, a real sweetie, and she was the last to pass away, on August 4th, 2005. After her sister, Chrissie (again, also in this Gallery) died, she was given a new friend, Tina, who now lives with Doreen (cream). This has been a long hot Summer, and I was too depressed to do this memorial earlier.
Crystal was always friendly, tame, and gentle, more so than the others, and I thought her beautiful, although as she aged she got a little frumpy!
Sadly, I also recently lost Penny (cream), the friend of Pearl (the siamese), on Sept. 18th, 2005. I rescued her and got her with a tail that was as bare as a rat's owing to the bad conditions. She lived a happy year and a half with us. Pearl now lives with Polly a young dove spot.
I also lost Rudolf and Kubush, at the same time, and I do not know why (on 9/19/05). That worries me, but nothing I can do. Rudolf was a rescue owing to his red nose (hence the name); bacitracin ointment cleared it up. I also got Dave as his friend, he passing away months ago. Rudolf and Kubish were nowhere near Penny. It is odd how when deaths come they come in groups, and then none for months; like there was a visit from the Grim Reaper.
So, good-bye, to Crystal, Penny, and Rudolf and Kubush. They will be buried deep and safe in the usual place (see bottom of Gallery).

Good-bye also to Bobby the spiny mouse, Orion and Theseus the fancy mice, and Lucy the dwarf hamster and her two sisters.
