On November 14th 2004 I came home to find out I saw a proud grandma to two little jelly beans.
One of those little jelly beans grew up into a beautiful, smart and caring agouti gerbil named Porsche.
Porsche suffered from seizures as a young gerbil, and was born with a small kink at the base of her tail. None of these stopped Porsche from being an energetic, happy little gerbil.
Since day 1 I handled Porsche, she loved being picked up and always jumped up the side of the tank to tell me it was time for her to come out and play on my shoulder and crawl up on my head.
Porsche was never satisfied with the amount of space she got for play time. It didn’t matter if the whole living room was hers to play in she always jumped over the barrier to explore more territory.
Porsche helped raise her 5 siblings, always grooming them and keeping them warm in the nest, just as if they were her own babies. She was always making sure her tanks mates were groomed and happy. She never bit or fought.
Porsche was the largest of her family and the only Agouti gerbil who didn’t have spots.
Porsche recently became ill overnight. The Vet said it didn’t look good for her, but I was willing to pull her through.
With medication, love and treats Porsche decided it was her time and would not accept help from anyone. That was her stubborn side…. I’m sure she got from me.
With three sunflower seeds in her little belly, Porsche passed away at 12:30am June 13 2006.
Porsche leaves behind her Mother, Father brothers (2) and sisters (3), most of all her Tank mate and sister Audi, who stuck by her through all of this and more.
Porsche I wish you would have fought harder for me; I was willing to do whatever it took to help you. I’m so sorry I failed you; we miss you and will always remember you.

Rest In Peace my sweet girl, you don’t have to ever worry about hurting ever again.
Big Sister Porsche, always taking care of everyone else.
