Two of my little dwarves have passed. I woke up to find another one, Java, dead in a tunnel. He had been badly mutilated and obviously one of the other hamsters had attacked him.
So, to my little Java and Brownie, sleep well. You both touched my hearts in the short time you were with me.

Oh, Hollie, so sorry to hear of this. . . . RIP Brownie and Java. That must be so hard, to find a hamster not only dead, but so very injured. Hope the bully doesn't decide to eliminate others. Hope you have been able to lay them to rest in a quiet place. Hope, too, that you're holding up ok. It's terribly sad that your joy at coming to own them has been shattered by two deaths. Maybe your little group of furries will stabilize now. Best wishes.

I've seperated the one who I thought was being the bully; he's now in a 10gallon tub by himself. The only thing is, I caught Jack and Pewter fighing too, so I don't really know what to do. :/ For the most part though, those two seem to get on fine together.

I only know what I've read about dwarf hamster society, but here's a thought: maybe now that you've removed the bully, the other two are now squabbling to determine dominance in that cage?

That is not a squabble; that is a FIGHT. There is no blood in a squabble. When they start fighting (gerbs or dwarfs) they get separated immediately and permanently. I have never had dwarfs fight as all my groups come from the same litter. So sorry for the deaths.

Hollie didn't say that blood was involved in the altercation between Jack and Pewter. . . . that's why I thought it might be a squabble.

Oh, I see. But squabbles are generally harmless, but noisy.

Jack and Pewter are just squabbling; even before when the five of them were together, there was no blood, which is why I left them all together. When Brownie died (he didn't have a name when he died, but I christened him posthumously), he had no bite marks or anything on him. If he had, then I would have instantly seperated Nutmeg.
