November 10th, a sad day in our home

It's been a sad week in my home, and that is why I have not been around as of late.

First off my gerbil Alero died Saturday morning (Nov. 10), she was almost 3 years old. She had been ill for a week and not doing well, so I expected it.
I'll miss you little Alero, now you rest with your three sisters.

And, well my heart is broken. I had to put Ebony my handicap foster bunny to sleep also Saturday. This is the first bunny I've had to put down, and she was very special to me, I spent hours every day caring for her.
Friday night she lost movement & feeling in her good leg, and Saturday she was unable to go to the bathroom on her own, and her abdomen was swollen. I gave her a big breakfast and we sat in the sun eating that morning.
I held her close and told her how much I loved her while she slipped away. I feel so empty inside, though i know that she was ready to go.

I miss you Ebony.







I pick up Ebony's ashes this evening.

Another rough patch for you, Andrea. . . . not one, but two losses. . . . I'm sending condolences and hugs your way.

Rest well, Alero, and you too, Ebony the Brave Bunny.

What will you do with her ashes, if anything?

I should add that same day I lost George, a rescued white mouse. He was an old fellow, and when Gloria died in her Habitrail mini for mice and improved George's digs by putting him in there - in what I knew where his last few months. They await burial.

One moment he was walking around, and then a few hours later I saw blood on his lifeless nose - a stroke?

Very sorry to both of you for losing your beloved little critters. It's especially hard for the ones we've gotten even more attached to or taken special care of. They don't live long enough. My condolences.
