Very cute! So what's the secret? Is that the same hammie in all four photos pasted in? (If Phoebe had babies it is news to us). (My real mom, and my hamster matriarch, Rainy, are both gone, so I try to keep busy with other things on this day. But happy M-Day - to those to whom it applies).

Do you think I would breed one of my pets when there are so many animals in need?

I was being ironic, obviously.
So they are all pastes?

Yes. And little Phoebe even had a respiratory infection when I took the photos, but was kind enough to model anyway. She got sick a week after Phoenix died - it was almost like she missed him and was depressed, so she has been getting extra run around time every night. After a week of antis she was better, thank God.

I was at the Cenral Park Zoo recently. . . saw Damon, and saw Lily, the pot-bellied pig. She wasn't walking too well and I asked about her. They said she was getting on being "seven or eight years old", AND she generally declined after her mate died about a year or so ago. Poor thing. I rubbed her bristly head. I also saw alpacas there. . . which I never saw before, although they told me they were there for some time. They must have been hiding in the shed the last few times I went there. Digi photos soon. . . as always, the past few weeks have been very busy with the picture taking. I even developed a few rolls of film (yes, rolls) I took a few years ago! (Of the NYBG in the Fall, and Spring). They came out perfect. Oh. I said Nature and bird-watching is common in Green-Wood: spotted a hawk today at close range. Got some really good photos. To be posted later. Successfully introduced a young female gerbil to one many months older I rescued. No dominance issues as the young one just runs away. Lots of squeaking going on, but the tank has been next to me for a day - and all is calm. Squeaky, but calm.

How are the otters getting along now? I hope their conflict has been resolved!

I think they were asleep. Really. Nothing going on. Maybe you caught them at a bad moment. Ever see the otters at the Bronx Zoo? I mentioned once I thought it weird they had a male peacock, golden gibbon and annoying youngster, and a tapir, all in the same enclosure. The tapir slept, and the young gibbon annoyed the bird until it went after him, and then it hid behind its mom. So human. I got some good shots of the male polar bear sleeping in a rather salacious pose. I also got some turtles lined up neatly, a la Phoebe. I'll be back during the Summer - this time with the SLR and telephoto lens. The Japanese snow monkeys were hoping around like wild, especially the babies. Photos to come. . .
