I lost Chrissie on Saturday. I just found her dead, but still warm. She was among the first six I ever got, and I picked her up in July of 2002 from the breeder. She came with her sister Crystal, and brother Cliffy, and nephews Tommy, Dill, and Phil. The four guys lived together. I lost Tommy and Phil that same terrible week - see other threads, in Memorial forum. I picked up little Tina on Saturday from a pet store; she and Crystal got along right away; Crystal was never aggressive. Chrissie was a favorite, and will be missed greatly. You put healthy gerbils in with the corpse?
I'm curious why you did that. "Saying goodbye" is a human contrivance -- in the animal kingdom, especially in a situation where pathogens, however unlikely, cannot entirely be ruled out, I'm sure you can see how hazardous it can be to introduce unexposed animals to the deceased's remains, or to allow previously exposed animals to maintain contact.
I am sad at your household's recent losses, and hope that no more are visited upon you and yours.
