My fancy mice, a new batch, had two litters. They are prettier than the pictures owing to surprising silky fur! They litters wre several days apart, and in different places of the habitat. Obviously, the moms (and three aunts) moved them into one warm wriggling mass.

And they look completely wiped out!
Very nice colorations on the babies!

Those tans ones are expecially nice, and that silky fur is a bonus.

Hope the tan/white one in the center of the first picture doesn't grow into his/her ears too soon--he/she is soooo cute as is!

You might want to crawl in there with them it looks so warm and cozy, but it is a tad stinky!
Gotta sex the first batch in several days.

Approximately how long do the mice live, DF? I know alot about hamsters, but very little about mice!

A few years, I think. About the same as rats. Too bad. Gerbils seem to live a little longer than the other common rodent pets.

Not really from my experience. Maybe shorter a bit than Syrians.
The cream ones have left the litter pile and are on their own looking for food. Bet the moms are happy. Only the white and black ones are left, and sa few white with grayish beige patches.

Yes, big ears. I caught a loose hyper agouti mouse this morning in the Havahart trap. In a locked a secured bathroom I tried to sex it - took half an hour to catch it. Turned out to be a male. Placed in very deep (three feet) empty trash bin with wheel, bedding, bottle, etc. Top placed on it. I get back from the Botanic Gardens - with serious allergies - and the mouse escaped again!! You know how I got these nutty agouti mice - see the early Jan. thread about my fancy mice and their surprise pregnancies.

He must have jumped straight up off the back of the wheel two feet straight up catching the hinge area of the bin, and squeezing through a small opening. I feel like there is no point in trapping any at all until I get some 5.5 gallon tanks with mesh tops.
