Nice. They also love to PEE in the tubes, unlike Syrians. That is why I moved my Spiny Mice into the tubes of the Habitrail, and them into bins.
Are they tame enough to handle and kiss on the nose? Mine are but I raised them from pups.

I've not tried kissing them on the nose yet, but they do like being handled If I put my hand into the cage they'll come over and lick and nibble my fingers. They'll climb into my hand, too, and seem to enjoy being out of the cage with me. I had one chase my fingers yesterday, trying to lick them! If I put my fingers against the side of the cage near to them, then they'll come up to have a sniff. Maybe I'll try kissing them when I get home! They scare me when they fall asleep in the middle of the cage... I'm so used to Syrians hiding away when they sleep! I keep thinking maybe they've died or something, and I'm sure they're getting ticked off with me when I try to wake them to make sure they're still alive! They're so small, it's not always easy to see if they're still breathing... They're actually very different to Syrians, which is something I wasn't expecting.

>> They scare me when they fall asleep in the middle of the cage... I'm so used to Syrians hiding away when they sleep! << Some of mine love to sleep squeezed between the wall of the habitat and something like a wooden house. They really can flatten out, like a flounder!

Very cute dwarfs! That's a good picture you took of your dwarf in the tube, I've never seen a pic like that one before. They're fast critters too! It is hard to see them breathing. I remember one time looking at a dog trying to see it breath & remember thinking if I can see my hamster breathing, then I should see if this dog is okay.

Unfortunately one little done died yesterday... the darkest brown one, in the photo with the yawn and asleep by himself in the house. So now there's four little loves. When I left them this morning, I had four of them fast asleep in the tubes!

Aww, I'm so sorry hollie. May your little one rest in peace. DF--sadly no, Keiko died in the night. I had to tell someone up front quietly as people were there. Keiko was a beautiful Akita too, very friendly. The owners were called, I didn't hear what was said.

Sorry to Hollie; sorry about Keiko. >> The owners were called, I didn't hear what was said. << A friend and major animal rescuer, very knowledgeable and smart, said she never could become a vet for reasons such as that. Too empathetic.

I woke up this morning to find another little one gone. Little Java had been obviously attacked - his body was quite badly mutilated. Knowing that Nutmeg has been bullying the others (but never actually drawing blood), I've seperated him. Now Pewter and Jack are together, and he's in a plastic bin in my bunny room.
He's a very friendly little guy towards me, but I guess he's just not a hamster hamster.

Aww, boo. That's too bad about your little Dwarfs. I have 3 girls, and they're pretty good friends I think. They squabble all the time, but so far, nothing serious. Funny too, the smallest one, Sprite is the most aggressive. She makes sure the others know she's in charge.

That shouldn't happen if they are from the same litter. Were they?? Even if from different litters if they were put together at a young age (a month) I am surprised that happened. Sorry.
