Yup, Rat Show. I went to Ratsraviganza (gee i hope i spelt that kinda right). It was alot of fun, and though I don't own any rats, and actually don't plan on it anytime soon, it was a fun event and my first 'rodent' show I've ever attended. I worked the concession to help raise money for the Small Animal Rescue Society of BC. Boy were their some CUTE ratties! I really like the Dwarf ones, they are so cute and Tiny! Here are a few pictures fromt he day, I didn't get many All the booths with great Rat into... Judging. People checking out the #1 booth Ratties, one sleeping in a very strange position.. lol Some Judges Judging #1 Booth Around The "King" of Rats this little cutie didn't want to wear her costume LOL

Cute rats. Sounds like it was pretty cool.
I really like those dumbo rats - they're probably my favorite kind.

wauw, it looks like allot of fun The king isn't even that big, 2 of my boys 'look' bigger I have just have to ask: are the rats that stand before the judges in that same 'cage' the whole day!? Over here you can't even be judged if your rat is in such a small thing, over here it must me twice as big.

Each rat has a carrier of it's own, then when it's his/her turn to be judged the judges wash their hands and handle the ratty. None are together. The carrier is only for judging, it's not a home. The rat is put back in it's home with it's family after it's done.

I can't remember being this was over a year ago... but I think there were 2 or 3 baby rescue rats in there. I do remember we had many of our rats adopted after this show. I actually have that cage now (or one just like it) I put my Degus in it when I'm cleaning their cage, or if I have to transport them somewhere.

Speaking of cages, at the Westminster Dog Show, backstage, some very large dogs have to stay in cramped cages while waiting to be judged.

What do you like/hate about them? I love my Deg-pooos as I like to call them LOL I have two boys Bruce & George (Father & Son) that I adopted when I took them and their Female relatives into foster care here a year ago. Degus are super fun, not cuddley, more gerbil like that way. They make fun bird noises, and yell at each other when they are mad or want their way. Down side, they spray... and they can spray FAR. So Degu's can be very very messy. Most people feel females spray less, the three I had did, but another friends 2 were big sprayers, so i don't know. They are pretty easy to keep, they need allot of room, lots of things to climb and a strict diet, but other then that they are quite easy. Oh and they are not very smelly either.

Just duck when the spray!
A view of your habitat for them would be nice. I know they need a lot of stuff to climb.
