I had a rough night. Fuzz was doing his scratching thing again. He lies on the floor of the aquarium (with a few inches of bedding above him) and does some sort of scratching maneuver with his front paws. It's loud enough to wake me. I thought the problem was that his wheel fell over because I had changed his bedding and it was still fluffy, making the wheel unstable, but then he went back to it after I got up and fixed the wheel. I eventually had to move him into another room so that I had some peace and quiet.
I never saw this with Critter or Pinky. Goofy boy. He sleeps on the floor of the aqarium too, not in a nest or "house" thing. The others certainly burrowed much of the time, but I don't think they were on the bottom.
He also relieves himself on the floor of the aquarium, not in some corner of the cage as the other ones did.
He's quirky!

I thought most hammies only used one area of their homes as a bathroom.... Is he knocking over the wheel? I have gerbils that will knock over the wheel because they don't want their tank mate in it LOL... it's kinda funny to watch.

He sometimes causes the wheel to lean against the side of the aquarium if he burrows underneath it and pushes the CareFresh around. Last night it moved because of the new bedding--not packed down yet and so the wheel didn't stay in place. The urinating on the floor of the aquarium is so weird--and it doesn't happen in a corner, either! His mother didn't teach him manners! He never urinates on me, though--so that's good.

Syrians use corners, usually. Dwarfs like to pee in tubes, usually - which can cause problems inside the tubes of a Habitrail (it leaks!).
Doesn't sound like a disease, just odd.

Sorry to hear that fuzz is keeping you up Pinky. I often have to put Jenna in the closet because she can be quite noisy!
I'm trying to get my dwarfs to pee in one of those little Habitrail Safari Hamster Hut litter box things. It's working.. I've scooped alot of little lumps out of this. But they still pee in the wheel, in the sand and on the yellow platform. They just pee where ever they want!

Yep.
As for noise, go to the pharmacy and get some silicone, or cotton and wax, earplugs. Those are the kind that close off the ear canal totally.

I use earplugs during exams. Not those kind.. just foam ones. But I've found some foam ones are better than others. I really like the orange 3M ones. When I was working at the hardware store, some guy brought up a couple of products... Scotch tape I think. The 3M stuff, and some other brand. And he asked me what was better... and I told him 3M is good, but really, when it comes to tape, the cheaper tape is fine. Then he says, "You know what 3M stands for right?" I say, "No?" "Three times as much!" heehee. (It's kind of true. 3M is expensive)

No, I wasn't thinking that there was something wrong with Fuzz--I was just reporting on his peculiar ways!
Critter had a region of bedding that she would use, and Pinky was the same for a while, but then he started going in the ceramic thingy as though he were potty trained. That sure was convenient.
I think that there was only one other night since I've had Fuzz where he's kept me up. So I'm assuming that he doesn't do this scratching stuff every night. But he sure does pee in the wheel!
I am hearing-impaired on one side, so unless there's a lot of noise (like last night) I can just sleep on the side with my "good" ear to the pillow--and that's as effective as earplugs. This also means that I need one loud alarm to wake me up. . .

Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing.
Yea, I am a wealth of useless trivia.
