After we come back from Florida (which I'll tell you guys about before I leave), I'm set on getting a syrian before 2007. Now I know I'm asking this question to people who have mulitply hamsters, but seriously do you think two hamsters are better than one? Should I get one or two? I am used to having three dwarfs & one syrian, but I'm wondering if two is okay to have. I have money in the bank, time to play with them as work ends at 5pm. I just need the cages/etc. So my fellow hamster lovers....what shall I do? Should I get one or two syrians? Dwarfs are cool too, but I'm kind of bent on getting another syrian. P.S. If I don't answer you back right away it's b/c I have three tests tomorrow from 8am-4:30pm. Thanks for understanding.

I never have had only one, except for a week until Rainy had her litter in January 2003. So what can I say?! Get the number you can handle. I have so many in part as most are rescues.

I don't think you should be asking us.... Us people with 20+ rodents in our homes LOL Maybe get one now see how things work, then adopt a loney one somewhere. personally feeding 2 rodents isn't much different in cost then feeding 2. But with Syrians b/c you have to keep them on their own the houseing will be what costs you the most, and it's a 1 time kinda thing.

I'd say go with two Katie, if you can afford it. It's so fun to see how they differ in personality. I think with Syrians, it doesn't really matter if you get one or two, since they need their own cages, but I think it's fun to have a pair! I have two, and I'm so happy I do. But Jenna is senior to Napoleon Pear by about a year, so I'm sure my two Syrians, will someday not too far down the road, become only one. I don't want to speak sad... but I can't deny the inevitable. DF taught me a new word recently: Ephemeral. I'm glad you're thinking Syrians over Dwarfs too. Dwarfs are so cute and it's great you can keep groups together, but Syrians are just so sweet and so much fun. And so many neat colour options with Syrians! Are you thinking short haired or long haired Syrian? Boys? Girls? One of each? Any colour preferences? My first hamster Duffy, as a child, was a teddy-bear Syrian, and I'm most definately a Syrian fan, but I'm pretty happy having the best of both worlds right now. My clan of 5 brings some joy to an otherwise, somewhat lonely life, since I live alone. And I really like having pets to care for; being kind of motherly.. you know. The plants just weren't enough anymore! Had to sneak a hamster in here. And then another and then another and another... By the way, best of luck on your exams!!

I would probalby end up getting females again as I'm so used to them by now. Color preferences, anything but black & grey. Short-haired Syrians, the long-haired don't appeal to me. Aww..don't think about that day, Meghan. Just know that you won't have any regrets with them. I know with Sophie I didn't have any, Theo I did and I wish I didn't. I love dwarfs, my Benny was soo friendly & cute! But after Sophie, I'm more of a syrian fan now. And plus the fact they aren't that fast! ;D Thanks. I'm finally finished all three of my tests. I think I did well for American Literture 2 & Western Civilization. Geography, well...I did well on the maps to say the least. I knew some & didn't know some. We'll see. Okay quiz Meghan, what does Ephemeral mean?

It means they are like flowers - they don't live long.
