I should add about Poppy that she is about five months old. I have read that no vet will spay before six months, and I am still looking for vets that have recommendations from people who used them for hams, gerbs, and rabbits. Anyway, I feel bummed about Sukie.

They can be safely spayed from 3months up but not everyone will. have you looked in the yellow pages?

That is exactly where I would not want to look. I want personal recommendations, or recommendations from rabbit organizations who can vouch for a vet's knowledge of rabbits. But she's not getting spayed for 3-4 months.

DF, if you would like here the the number of the vet I used to go to up here, Dr. Guerino (Grrrino) may have a good recommendation for you (603) 436-4922. He doesn't give out any old recommendations eithers. Or go to rabbit.org, and there is a list of questions to ask a potential rabbit vet, if they answer one wrong say I'm sorry but I'm going to continue my search. Cognac

I'll list Pyke's excellent vet here again, since her speciality is rabbits.
Dr. Lauren Stein, Ansonia Vets, (212) 426-2100

I would definately check out Jeannie's vet as that is a personal recommendation.
I would also look in the phone book, call potential vets and run down the list of questions with them. If money is a problem for you you will want to ask how much rabbit stuff is...spay, check ups and what not.

Yep, I've been to about 6 rodents vets so far, and this one is probably the best of all of them. I am incredibly impressed with her.

The vet has to be somewhere near me. Manhattan is not near me, at least in terms of transporting rabbits and other animals. Where I am: the red star! Here I Am

I would check with Animal Kind in Brooklyn, which was recommended in another thread. They also run an emergency clinic which is open 7 days a week, including holidays. Officially, the hours are 7 am to midnight but someone is there 24 hours and you can call if you have an emergency outside their normal hours and let them know you're coming.

The other thread's post didn't mention all that. Noted!
