OK, she is not exactly upside down, but on her back at an angle. I have posted photos of Poppy before, but none this close or of her fluffy belly. Enjoy! Bunny profile. Bunny belly. Bunny teeth. Bunny close-up. Sleepy bunny.

She was sleepy - or trancing out on her back. - - - - - - - Busy, busy. . . a NEW dilemma has occured owing to these photos posted elsewhere. Check this out. . . You may recall I rescued Poppy, then called "Poopy" , from a garage sale, and the owners who got her as a youngster told me she was female. There never really was any doubt. But now, in another thread, this question has come up! So, I turned her upside down again. . . and I may indeed have a male!! OK, you bunny experts tell me, can a female gave these?? If not, I have just saved over $200 on a spay, although it does result in some gender confusion! ;D

Well, the experts are unanimous. . . Poppy is a MALE!!! ;D I was told Poppy was a female: she was obviously sexed before the testicles dropped, and sexed wrong. I never thought to check as Poppy was always gentle, never aggressive, and never sprayed. So, no spay operation!! I save well over $200. Maybe I will get "him" some new toys. Weird.

Its always a shock when males/females turn into the other gender. Harriet, our dwarf momma, was supposidely a boy-Rascal-until unexpectently she had seven babies! Well, tell Poppy I said "hi" to Him! ;D

You have any opinions on neutering males?

Well, for dogs I think its good b/c their temperment is supposed to go down & they're supposed to be more calmer. And they won't go in the house every few seconds. So, if I had a male (say Kirby-my Corgi one day or Buddy or Jeramiah-sp--my two Goldens someday--yes I'm crazy) I would neuter them. As for bunnies, I'm not sure how the neutering process goes or what it does to them. And what I mean by that is do they get calmer? Ask your vet what the after effects could be for a bunny? Is your bunny too old now? Will it calm him down? Questions like that...sorry I couldn't help you out much. My Mom a long time ago had a bunny, but I've never had one, so I know squat on them. Hope you get it figured out.

Rabbits need company. Males neutered are generally more docile and have no risk of health problems relating to their sexual organs such as cancer.
A female can be introd to a neutered male.
Females should be spayed to prevent cancer, as studies show there is an increased rate in cancer in female rabbits who were never bred and not spayed.

Well 'he" is a cutie! Jackpot also will lye on his back for me... Baby not so much. Both my boys are neutered, I find they don't smell at all, and not once have I seen them hump anyone/anything!
I want to see more pictures! What breed is he?

This conversation gives the term "gender issues" new meaning!
My first Chinese hamster, Critter, was "he" throughout life. At some stage I went to a website and THOUGHT I sexed "him" properly. Ha! It wasn't till I went shopping for Pinky (very male!) after Critter died that I realized that I had had it all wrong for 3.5 years. . .

Same sort of thing with Duffy, my first teddy bear hamster as a child. The pet store told my parents that Duffy was a girl, but a close family friend and hamster lover, took one look at Duffy and said, "No Meghan, you've got a little boy here!" I was so surprised! Keep in mind, I was only um, 7 at the time, and didn't know much about sexing hamsters.... I thought "those" were her bum! Nice though, that the name Duffy could be for a girl hamster or a boy hamster

Poppy has never been neutered, and is now about 32 months old. His sweet personality has never changed, and he does nothing untoward. Maybe he is unusual for a rabbit.
