I got a call from a young girl who is missing a female white bunny with black spots and she lives on my street. What kills me is I asked her when the bunny went missing she said 3 or 4 WEEKS ago! My sign has been sitting there a week allready (on the community mail boxes, so EVERYONE sees it everyday), and even the SPCA new I had the bunny but why the heck didn't these people call the SPCA? or put up signs of their own saying they lost the rabbit? ? ? ? That ticks me off, this is THE sweetest bunny in the world, and it's going back to people who didn't even TRY to find her when they lost her, but what can I do about it?
I told the young girl to have her Mom call me, she said she would tomorrow. I know I would be so happy to get my pet back after it was lost, but I also know I would LOOK for it too!
I'm pretty heart broken, cuz I've fallen for this little gal. If she was missing for 1 week, I wouldn't be as pissed off as I am now.

Are you sure it's for real? I think you should wait until the mom calls you back and see what happens before getting too upset.

If all else fails. . . go and try to find Animal Rescue groups in your area by searching on the Web, and calling Humane and SPCA organizations. Ask at pet stores and vets.
Go to the Animal Rescue forum here and look at the one I cited here in the NYC area. Call them, cite my name (Tom), and ask if they have any listing of similar such groups in your area.
I already posted last Summer I saw two bunnies running loose in backyards and hanging around near the sidewalk at night. I was going to buy a big Havahart trap and ask the property owner for permission to try to trap them, but then they vanished.

DF, I am a volunteer for the Small Animal Rescue Society of BC..... So If a rabbit was found out here, i would be the one called LOL... SPCA out here only takes dogs (yes very strange, thay re also only open 4 days a week).
I have not heard for the mother yet, I'm guessing she will call tonight. When the girl called she asked me If i found a bunny and what it looked like, i answered her by saying "Have you lsot a bunny?, and what does it look like?" LOL She described a female white bunny with black spots, she lives on my street, so it's obviously her bunny. I feel bad for the kid, and hope this was one big mistake, and not Mommy saying "Buny went to a farm" or "Bunny ran away", or they leave it outside and it ran away oops... I duno. I'm a negative thinking, I'm trying hard to think more positivley, it's just so hard when all u see is bad things happening to animals by stupid people.

>> it's just so hard when all u see is bad things happening to animals by stupid people. << That's why I never could have become an ASPCA enforcement officer. Good luck.

Ya I was a vet assistant, that's what I went to college for. In the "Big City" I found it wasn't so bad, but when i started working further out.... OMG it was bad. I once had to pull maggots out of a dogs face... I was thinking of applying at the SPCA.... but trully i don't think i could handle the stess, I would go mental and start killing these people or something!

EXACTLY what would happen to me.
You saw my Animal News threads about the ASPCA and Henry Bergh. So you know he also founded the SPCC for children. My father worked for them for a few years (after 22 years as a cop!) but the horrific brutality, often sexual, against children and even babies, caused him to quit in horror and disgust.
