After many years of being bunny-less, I've finally moved out of my parents house and into my own flat. Naturally, the first thing I wanted to do was get myself bunnies - and so I called the local shelter on the off-chance that they'd have some (generally they only deal in dogs, cats and the occasional horse and donkey - though to be honest, any rabbit I got over here would be a rescue because they're either sold for meat or as pets to people who couldn't care less about them). Amazingly, they had bunnies... three of them! Of course I went down to see them (knowing I'd take them anyway!), and from what I can see I've got three lovely little does coming my way at the beginning of next month One's an albino part-angora, one's a black part-angora with two snippets of white on her nose, and one's a smokey grey Dutch. They're quite wild at the minute as the sanctuary's staff don't have the time to spend with them and they're in a room by themselves in the cattery all day, so it'll take some training before they're tame enough to become proper house bunnies, but reading this forum's got me all excited! I designed their cage and it's ready to be picked up; it's 1.20m long, 50cm deep and has two storeys, each one being 50cm high. There's a hiding box on the top level for them to go into, too. I'm hoping to eventually let them have the run of the room that they'll be in during the day (once it's fully bunny-proofed, of course!), but until they're tamed they'll only be out with me in the evenings. I'm so excited, and reading this forum's got me even more excited!

Yes, congratulations, and we await photos.
I asked elsewhere, and ask again now - tell us about your avatar photo, please.
My bunny when out (when not hiding!) never chews anything - except DANGLING wires or clothes. I lost a pair of headphones, pants, and a coat to my own stupidity!

They can be annoying with their chewing... hence the bunny-proofing I've got a second bedroom in my apartment, which is currently home to my budgies and will have a sofa, bunkbeds and my desk and laptop, eventually, so it's going to be pretty good bunny territory, with hopefully very little to chew on! My bunnies before were pretty good, they never really chewed on much; though I remember one day they were in my bedroom with me, and I'd been doing my homework on the floor - I went to the bathroom, came back and found it all chewed. Unfortunately the teacher didn't believe me when I told him! They chewed on a book or two as well, but nothing too serious. They mainly left wires alone. The good thing about these three is that they're litter trained, too, so that takes away that 'problem', though I never found it too difficult to train bunnies where to pee anyway My avatar picture's just one I found on the 'net; I may see if I can root out some old pics of my bunnies before (I've got an adorable one of Toffee, one of my first rabbits, pulling a balloon on a string), to use that But a cute bunny pic's better than no pic! I've gotta admit though, that cage doesn't look all that comfy for the poor little thing...

Here is the full size: Obviously, they should have something such as a cut doormat covering that metal mesh; mine do.

Yeah, it's not a good floor for a bunny.
I changed the pic -I saw the website that the picture came from, and it's some projects about rabbits. I didn't read it, but it doesn't look all that good. >.<

Your avatar is now almost totally black on my screen. That picture came from a 4-H project page. They seem like a reputable gpoup, but you should e-mail them about that mesh floor. www.4hccsprojects.com/rabbit/

I went to sleep last night feeling like it was going to be Christmas today! You know that giddy, can't sleep feeling? I'm picking the girls up tomorrow! I took the morning off work tomorrow, so I can get the cage and set it up, then get the bunnies and they'll be able to settle in during the afternoon until I get home from work. I've got a friend coming over to help me socialise them a little - I'm so excited!

Hey, when do we get to see pictures...? Or did you post them somewhere else? If so, gimme a link! Are the girls fixed then? Otherwise I don't know how they'd stand each other or how you'd stand them! I have three bunnies also: two males and female. A bunny family, actually...father, mother, son. (Haha, by accident.) Yep. Maybe I'll post pics of them sometime, or maybe we can chat about our buns!
